She is the strongest women I know...

Knew.

Never have I ever,

Seen someone smile...

Smile through everything the world throws at them.

Maybe I was too young to see if there was any pain behind her smiles,

But at least she achieved her goal,

And I remember her smiling.

Always. Always smiling.

Teaching me all the lessons I wouldn't learn at school,

Letting me run around where ever I pleased,

And baking every time she got the chance.

But, despite all the smiles...

...She was dying,

Slowly,

But never let the smile leave her face,

Never let the light leave her eyes.

She fought back...

...but in the end she lost.

She cared so much,

Had so much love for everyone,

Would do anything for anyone...

...and never asked for anything in return

Yet,

She's gone.

Left us all behind.

She won't be here in person to see me reach my full potential,

To see me realise what she saw in me,

But I know she's watching me.

And I hope...

...I hope she's smiling, and I hope I'm making her proud.
