In Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop…

Hermione Granger sat across from Theodore Nott and drank her hot tea, feeling relaxed as the burning liquid warmed her cold insides. She stared out the window and could see the snow continue to fall gracefully. She still didn’t know what had happened to her in the Great Hall. All she knew was that one minute she was angry, with Draco pointing her wand at her, and the next she was pressed up against him the smell of spearmint and oddly enough parchment and old books radiating off of him, as if he had been in the library.

Theodore stared at Hermione, watching her stare outside. He was touched that Hermione had stood up to him yet his ego was slightly bruised too, she was making him weak. Before he would’ve stood his ground and had a duel with Draco or maybe even had just a yelling match and work things out afterwards, but now he had Hermione fighting his battles for him. He could already hear the rumors people would be spreading. He took a sip of his tea and continued to stare at her.

She is beautiful, he thought to himself.

And to all honesty she was. Her once rat nest of brown frizzy hair was now tamed and a dirty blonde. Her eyes a hazel green, her lips full and utterly kissable. Theodore still couldn’t believe that he was friends with her and that she accepted him, forgave him, after all the name calling in years long passed. She had a heart full of gold and bravery like that of any Gryffindor, but he had seen the mischief in her eyes and the smirk he saw more often than not and knew, oh yes he knew, that she was as much of a Slytherin as he was, maybe even more.

Hermione sighed dramatically as the image of Draco appeared in her mind. She didn’t understand him! He completely infuriated her, sent her body into convulsions practically at the anger he stirred within her, and yet, those few moments she had with him when he was almost magical. His eyes shining happily, a smile on his face, a laughter escaping his lips. She liked that Draco, the Draco that was hidden from the world. The Draco whom she almost kissed, who was kind, sweet, and handsome all the way through and not just on the surface. She knew that the Draco she had caught glimpses of was locked within the façade of the prejudice, good for nothing, egoistic, foul loathsome evil little cockroach, Draco Malfoy.

“What’s wrong?” Theodore asked her sensing her uneasiness. He knew however what was bothering her. “It’s Draco isn’t it?”

“How could he be so horrible to you?” Hermione blurted out angrily. “I mean you’re his friend.”

Theodore chuckled softly.

“It’s a love hate relationship,” He joked. He knew Draco wasn’t serious about what he said and neither what he said was true, at least not the real anger. He was just jealous that Draco was trying to get close to Hermione and he overreacted. “He really is a good guy. He just has a lot more to handle than the rest of us.”

Hermione stared at him with incredulous eyes. She didn’t understand why he was defending Draco.  She shook her head.

“And what would that be?”

“Well first of all he’s an ex-death eater who only just missed the Dementor’s kiss because Potter stood up for him and his parents, which I will never understand. But in the end I guess that’s why you guys are the good guys and we were the bad ones.” Theodore said gloomily. “I mean just imagine living with the Dark Lord,” he involuntarily shivered at this thought. “Draco he was forced into being a death eater, forced into doing the tasks he was given, if he didn’t him and his family would’ve been killed.  I had it lucky. I mean my dad was a loyal Death Eater but he let me do as I pleased basically. He didn’t force me to join, he gave me the option but I declined.  Draco didn’t have that choice.”  Theo said.
