Forbidden run

It's like every other night.
But the night had a different feel to it.
I had just gotten home from outreach and excitement filled the air.

I can't believe we're going to attempt to pull this stunt off...!
I thought to myself as the clock hit 10:00 pm.
I attempted to clear off a space on my bed for when you came,
But ended up making it more cluttered with things... So I left it as is.

As midnight grew closer,
I was as awake as ever,
I couldn't wait for the moment of hearing your voice travel into my room,
And feeling you against me once more.

Midnight came and gone,
The cold and bitter air from outside was harsh,
But I kept my window open for the sake of the midnight run.
I kept looking at the time,
Wondering when you'd appear.

"Hey babe..."
I heard you say.
I gasped and said,
"Hey babe! I'll let you in!"
I quickly went to the door,
Expecting you to be right there,
But you were taking your boots off,
So that you wouldn't cause a scene if busted.

A few panicked moments passed,
And you were finally in my room,
Safe and sound,
Happy and frozen.

"I thought I told you to cover up ya goof...!"
I said to you after being in your frozen embrace.
You chuckled and said in a low whisper,
"Eh, well I'm used to it...."
I rolled my eyes with a giggle and said,
"Goof...!"

After a few moments of being in each other's presence,
You stripped yourself of your soaked clothing,
While I was still in my nightgown.
I looked over at you and smiled,
Knowing where this night was going to take us.

I then stood up and took my nightgown off,
Then sat down in the bed.
Once on my bed,
Your gaze pushed me onto the bed,
Open and ready to feel you against me.

After a few moments of being like that,
I whispered with a sly smile,
"Why don't we lay the correct way...?"
You returned the sly smile and agreed.
We rearranged ourselves and the true magic began.

We did what we used to do before getting caught in the act of another midnight run.
You feasted,
You tasted the sounds I made,
And you made me crazy mad for you.

Once we were both satisfied,
I decided it would be best for us to get some rest.
I could tell you liked that idea,
For we would be next to each other as we slept,
But I couldn't really get to sleep because of the constant thought of us getting caught like this.

The night slowly turned to day as we both continued to get a little sleep.
Then I took a glance at the clock.
It read 5:25 am.
I whispered in your ear the time,
You kinda moved but continued to sleep.
I decided I was just paranoid about the whole situation,
That was supposed to be the fun part of this run.
Not knowing if you were going to get caught in the act or not.

The night continued to fade away as the clock turned to 6:00 am.
I softly nudged you awake, and you met my gaze.
Your sleepy gaze met my half asleep gaze.
We smiled sleepily at each other,
And you then cuddled closer into my chest,
Inhaling my scent and remaining there for blissful moments.

I then looked at the clock again and said,
"I think we should start getting ready to go..."
You nodded in agreement as you slowly got out of my bed.
I decided to get dressed and walk with you until you reached the highway.
But as the time came closer to 7:00,
The more I panicked about getting caught.

Once I was dressed,
I wrote a note stating I was going out on a walk and I would be back soon.
After finishing the note,
I poked my head out of my bedroom door,
I noticed grandpa was up and moving,
I knew we had to move quickly or we would get caught with me helping you out of the house.
I thought,
This is do or die trying,
Grabbed your hand,
And pulled you towards the door.

Somehow, we managed to get outside,
Without dying in the process,
I sigh in relief as we go out into the bitter cold,
I help you into your boots,
Constantly feeling bad for you.
Then the unannounced phone call from your dad dampened the mood....

You sigh and say sadly,
"He knows..."
Once I hear the words leave your mouth,
I start apologizing,
Apologizing for asking you to come out,
Apologizing for getting you into more trouble,
Apologizing for everything.

Time and time again,
You tell me it's alright,
You tell me,
"Even if I go to jail, always remember I'm with you, and I love you, no matter what happens to me...."
I begin to break inside,
Feeling guilty for all I have caused.

Once were at the intersection,
We see a car that looks like yours,
We say our rushed goodbyes,
With a sad parting kiss,
And we go our separate ways.

I tell myself to not look back as I begin to imagine what would be happening to you,
The things your father would be saying to you,
And the things that would possibly end us...

I walk back to my house,
With guilt building in my chest,
Dried tear stains on my face,
And a fake smile to round out the encounter.
I construct possible ways to get around the trouble I could be in if my parents found out.
After many painful moments,
Grandpa comes out to see me shoveling the porch off.

The day continues as normal,
With little blips of what this night has been like.
I think about what we did and smile,
I smile to myself because of how much fun we had.
And I smile because of what this night should be called,
And I called it the forbidden run....
