Even though Lucy was smiling over the story she was currently being told, a tale of Wendy getting stuck at the top of a very tall tree and needing her mother to come help her down, the smile didn't quite reach her eyes. the situation wouldn't allow for her to truly be happy after all.

The situation was not ideal to put it mildly. They were being assaulted by a dark guild of relatively unknown strength, though they were known to be a member of the Balam Alliance and therefore quite strong. Their members were scattered, injured, and uninformed of the true extent of the invasion. Their Master was injured, likely incapacitated for the remainder of the fight.

And worst of all...she had broken her oaths, multiple times.

She had broken her oath to her mother and her past self by using her dragon slayer powers. Even if it was to save her comrades, her friends, she still had sworn to herself to never use the power gained though her mother's death.

But worst of all, she had nearly broken the oath to the Master of Fairy Tail, her oath to never take another life. While she herself had no memories of this promise, when Erza had informed her of the events of Phantom Lords assault she had seen no reason to mistrust the red-heads words. But regardless whether she had knowledge of said promise or not, she had wanted nothing more than to tear Azuma limb from limb. To paint the trees with his life fluid and scream her victory to the heaves as her instincts demanded from her. even now, sitting in the camp surrounded by friends, her instincts still commanded her to hunt down the mage and put an end to his existence.

Worse still, she had nearly turned her claws on Wendy, she had nearly attacked a member of the guild! The question of whether or not she would have stopped herself if Mirajane hadn't intervened was irrelevant, she had nearly harmed the younger slayer.

How would the Master react when he heard the news, how would Natsu?! She didn't...she didn't want to lose their respect before she could regain the memories of the past, she didn't wish to ruin the home the old her had managed to build for herself.

...I can't worry about this right now. Lucy eventually decided as Wendy was called over to the medical tent by Elfman, the larger man needing another pair of hands to treat some of Evergreen's worst wounds. I may not be allowed to stay with them in the end, but Fairy Tail is still my guild for now...and if it needs more of my blood to survive, then I will gladly offer it. She finished as she stood and glared off in the direction a new scent was coming from.

Levy, having finished her early warning runes a few minutes ago, reacted a few seconds later, the bluenette whipping her head up from Gajeel to stare wide eyed into the forest. "Someone's coming!" She shouted, alerting the others, the Fairy Tail members still awake jumping up in preparation.

"...To think that you fairies still have yet to surrender to despair...my fragment is confused by your obstinance. There is such a thing in this world as "an overwhelming gap in strength" and weaklings like you will always fail. Still, our master's orders were quite clear "leave no fairy standing" and so I will devour every fairy here!" A man in sunglasses announced as he casually strolled into the clearing. A smile on his face and a finger pistol pointed in their direction.

...this is bad. This is very bad. Lucy determined as she looked back at the gathered mages. Lisanna was still out scouting. Evergreen, Mirajane, and Gajeel were all still unconscious. And Levy, Wendy, and Lucy herself were all nearly out of Ethernano. And considering the confidence this unknown man was displaying, his strength was likely on par with Azuma's. Our only chance will be to delay him for as long as possible and hope that another member of the guild shows up. Hurry Artemis, if you don't bring the others soon then there won't be anyone left to organize a counterattack.
