This one shot was inspired by various quotes for various shows, which have been italicised. Each belong to their owners and anyone involved. They are listed down the bottom with their corresponding show, in their entirety. I've been re-watching old shows which is why a lot of these one shots have been inspired by quotes from other shows.

Entering the war room behind Riley gave you a good way of avoiding Mac. He was already seated in his usual spot fiddling with a paperclip. Bozer was seated in the chair beside him, Leanne was leaning on Bozer's chair while Jack was standing in front of and to the left of the small coffee table which held the bowl of paper clips. Riley sat on the arm of the chair by the large windows. You stood by her, keeping your back to Mac. He eyed your figure but didn't comment on the cold shoulder. The others not knowing what was going on between the pair of you choose to keep quiet for once. Matty stepped in front of the wide screen and began to explain the case you had just received. "Several bank robberies have occurred over the last few days..." Jack interrupted while Matty spoke about the new case. "Why are we working this then?" Matty inhaled, turning to face Jack, narrowing her eyes. "You'd know if you let me finish, Jack." Jack waved his hand and went silent at the mad glare he was receiving. "The bank robberies funded a break in a scientific research lab where they stole an undisclosed bioweapon." Bozer stood up, dislodging Leanne from her spot on the arm of his chair, "They stole a bioweapon! Does anyone else have a problem with this?" Everyone looked over at him, eyebrows raised slightly, "we do, but we need to do our jobs." Leanne told her boyfriend. Mac's eyes flickered over to you, you noticed and turned back to the front, his face fell as did yours but you both missed the other's expressions. Jack gave you both a curious look before turning back to the front.

Matty hit a button and the bank robbery began to play on screen. Four men appeared on screen, all were dressed in a fully black outfit, trousers, long sleeved shirts, gloves, shoes, and ski masks. Then the robbery of the bioweapon. They were dressed the same as the previous bank robbery, one however, made rather a bold fashion statement. "Oh, man, you, gotta wear a mask to a robbery. It's a rule." Jack complained. Most of you smiled lightly at his joke, Matty rolled her eyes, and Mac snuck a glance at you, his lips turned up when he saw the small smile you gave at Jack's joke, he realised that he missed seeing you smile. "Anybody see anything?" Leanne asked. Riley jumped in with a quip, "When does anybody ever see anything?" You looked through the documents on the screen, "do they ever?" Mac grinned at your comment, you missed it, but Jack didn't, he noticed how you had been avoiding Mac lately and how Mac looked at you when you weren't looking, and how the pair of you seemed tense around each other. For once he didn't pry wanting to respect your privacy, he'd either pester Mac later, or wait for Mac to crack and tell him.

Thankfully, the case was local, so you didn't need to fly anywhere or be stuck in a car with Jack's playlist for an extended period. You had found one of the men who had robbed both bank and the scientific research building. You, and Jack were heading there, Mac was busy helping figure out the antiserum with Bozer while Riley was tracking other leads with Leanne's help. Jack looked over at you as he pulled over in front of the suspect's hiding spot. It was a cliché.\, really, hiding out in an abandoned farm house. "Everything okay, you've been kind of quiet lately?" Jack tested the waters. You shrugged eyes on the photo of the suspect before flicking up to look at the house. You adjusted the straps of your Kevlar vest. "Just busy." Jack nodded, he was about to ask another question when the suspect left the house. He was on the phone, when he hung up, you and Jack stepped out of the car and called out to him. "Freeze!" Jack huffed, "Stop!" Again, like many movies, and crime procedurals, that you had seen, he ran. You and Jack chased after him, he ran into a barn, here you both slowed down and drew your weapons. Entering the barn as quietly as possible you and Jack both had your guns pointing up, ready for anything. Your phone buzzed in your pocket, but you ignored it in favour of the suspect. Hearing a snap behind you, you turned. The gun was knocked from your hands as something hit your wrist. Hissing in pain, you kicked out, you hit his knee which caused him to crumble slightly. You shouted out for Jack. The suspect stood and then he pushed you into a wall, and you staggered on your feet. You could feel a trickle of blood run down your temple from where your head hit a wooden beam. Regaining your balance, you managed to get enough of a distance to throw a roundhouse kick, you hit his ribs causing him to fall back to his knees. Jack placed his gun to the back of the suspects head. You cuffed the guy and jerked him to his feet. Jack called Mac, and the agents who'd take the suspect back to Phoenix. "Why'd you run?" Jack asked angrily, as he began to walk the guy back to your car, as you collected the phone and gun he had dropped. "I don't like police." The suspect told you both gruffly. "That's original" You told Jack sarcastically. He grinned.

When Mac arrived, with Bozer, Riley and Leanne were still chasing other leads. Jack watched for Mac's reaction, thinking it would shed some insight as to his behaviour towards you in the recent days. Mac exited the car, his eyes scanning the scene. He spotted Jack talking with Matty and few agents taking the suspect into custody. Turning he spotted you, you were seated on the back of an ambulance, your wrist bandaged and a paramedic dapping at a wound on your head. His heart stuttered in his chest. Mac raced over to you, the suspect forgotten. Bozer headed over there instead at Jack's head jerk. Mac arrived when the paramedical stepped away after bandaging your head. You stood at his arrival, your arm crossed in front of you, you hand holding your arm just above the elbow. You looked down as Mac came to a stop in front of you. "Hey." Looking up you could see the concern over Mac's face as he assessed your injures. "Hey." You gave Mac a weak grin, which he returned. His hand almost involuntarily brushed a lock of hair away from the cut on your temple. You tried, and failed, to avoid leaning into his touch, your eyes also fluttered at the gentle way he brushed his fingers against your skin. Mac smiled at your reaction, the smile stayed when you met your eyes with his. His hand dropped and he moved it to hold your hand, which had fallen to your side. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. You are a capable agent and I was just concerned about your safety. I don't want to... I can't lose you, Y/N." You smiled at him, "I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have said the things I did. The idea of losing you, it terrified me, Mac." Mac smiled at you, "Does that mean you forgive me?" You stepped forwards a little into Mac's personal space. "Yes Mac, but only if you forgive me too." Mac grinned widely, relief flooding his features. His hand slid up your arm and he moved it to cup your cheek. "I forgive you." He pulled you in a little more, dipping his head down, closing the distance between your lips, sealing his promise with a kiss.
