It had been a while ago since Chin had joined Five-0, you found he had more cuts and bruises. Most of the time when he skyped you, he had bandages on his forehead or along his arms. He tried to placate you by saying that they weren't as bad as they looked but he knew that as a nurse and his little sister you knew that he was lying to you. Still what helped you keep your cool was that Kono was there, you hadn't the rest of the team just yet as you were still on the Mainland finishing up specialised nursing training course in one of hospitals.

A month later you were walking out of the terminal a newly minted nurse, one bag slung over your shoulder, the other rolling behind you as you walked with grace. Scanning the pick-up lane, you heard a squeal of excitement and turned towards it in time to drop your bags and see Kono racing towards you a few helium balloons bobbing in the air as they were dragged behind her. The multicoloured orbs danced above your head as she hugged you tightly. Your older brother Chin stepped behind her with a sign that read 'World's Okayest Nurse' alongside the words there was very artistic and equally as cute caricature of you dressed in your scrubs. You grinned and when Kono let you go, you stepped forwards and hugged your older brother. Kono had taken the rolling bag in exchange for the balloons while Chin had to lug the duffel bag back to his car.

After Kono and Chin had dropped the balloons and the bags at your little apartment, they had taken you out to dinner and drinks to celebrate you being back home as well as to introduce you to the rest of the team. The confidence that you had had at the airport when you knew that you were meeting Chin and Kono now fled you. Steve stood and shook your hand, the Navy SEAL looked intimidating despite the fact that Chin and Danny, noting your nerves both pointed out that Steve was basically a giant teddy bear. "Well a deadly teddy bear whose as soft as marshmallow for his friends." Danny shook you hand and lamented that they might be seeing you around the ER due to Steve's volatile nature. Adam had joined the group, despite his breakup with Kono still relatively fresh. Steve had invited him after discovering that he didn't have much of family left, Kono had okayed the move, still wanting to be friends with him.

Adam's eyes caught your figure every so often. Noting that you were shy and modest. He took a liking to you, and once he had been fully integrated into the group. He usually invited you to the group drinks or dinner, he usually tried to sit next to you so that he could comfortably talk you. Slowly your own feelings for Adam began to grow, you would make it a point to try and sit next to him as well. Sometimes when inviting you out, Adam would change the time by half an hour so that you two were alone together for a little while. You hadn't mentioned your growing feelings to anyone, especially your older brother and Adam. Kono had noticed the changes between you and Adam, how whenever you two were in large crowds Adam's hand would float over the small of your back guiding you through the crowd and that he would make sure you were okay due to your shy nature.

Arriving at the café, you noticed Kono was already there. You wound your way past all the tables before you reached her. You wanted to talk to Kono about your growing feelings for Adam and make sure she was okay if the pair of you started to see each other. "I already ordered since you said you were on your way. I got you waffles with an iced chocolate." You grinned, "thanks cuz." Kono grinned at you. "You sounded concerned on the phone, what's up?" You fiddled with the napkin, as you placed it on your lap, Kono did the same. "What do you do if you like someone but don't know if they like you?" Kono grinned, you usually asked her for this information for two reasons. 1. Chin would probably threaten the guy, he had done this in the past. 2. Chin would tease you about it and give you the usual older brother crap about who you had a crush on. "You tell them, and if they don't which if I think you're talking about is inn fact the person you're talking about you will bot have to worry." You smiled briefly but didn't confirm nor deny who you were talking about. "If I am right about who you like, then I say go for it. I am happy for you to find someone who makes you happy." You smiled again and finished off the waffles, "thanks for breakfast, but I gotta go to work." Kono nodded.

Arriving at work, you caught up with Malia who gave you the same advice that Kono had. She too had noticed the lingering looks between you and Adam, she hadn't mentioned any of this to Chin but she knew that he too had seen the way the pair of you looked at each other. At the end of your shift, you spotted a text from Kono.

You have a date, tonight. Wear something nice but casual. Deep breaths, you can do this cuz.

Rolling your eyes, you hoped it wouldn't be too much. Arriving at the restaurant in your usual fit and flare dress, the warm ocean breeze made it swirl around your knees and ruffle your hair. You saw Adam's figure waiting at a table with a small bouquet of flowers. Stepping up beside him, he smiled when he saw you, he picked up the bouquet which you now saw to be tulips. You gave a small smile when he pulled out you seat, and you sat down. He sat down opposite you. He sighed lightly when you met his eyes, "you look beautiful." You whispered back, "thanks"

During the date, your nerves grew, and Adam noticed. He ran through all the ideas he had for getting you to calm down. Picking one option, he told to wait a moment. He quickly paid for the meal and helped you up and out of the restaurant. It was a warm night, so the pair of you walked along the sand while you calmed down. Adam stopped where he was and turned to face you. "I really like you Y/N, more than I've liked anyone. I'd really like the chance to show you that." You looked up at him. "I really like you too." Adam brushed a lock of hair out of your eyes and leaned in slowly. He gave you plenty of time to push him away to reject him. You didn't, in fact you leaned up a little and met him in the middle your lips softly brushing against his.
