Their stares bore into my face and start to burn my already fire colored eyes. I look at Bella and we understand each other with no words needed. She walks towards us and takes Renesmee’s hand.

“Let’s go for a walk in the woods, shall we sweetheart?” the newborn female asks her daughter kindly. The little girl looks at me and smiles one last time then gracefully jumps off of the chair. The tall brown skinned human stands up from the settee and follows the small glowing angel. She happily clings to her mother as all three of them disappear behind the wide glass doors. The Cullens and a few other vampires that this room contains, turn their attention to me. They are waiting for an explanation. Instead of talking, I decide to show them.

My hourglass shaped figure stands up and steps away from the piano. I scan the room for a few seconds locating and calculating. Then, I carefully and elegantly raise my right hand into the air.

Grunts followed by gasps of alarm and astonishment flow through the room as the entire unattached, not nailed, loose furniture and objects slowly and silently rise from the ground and levitate in the middle of the room. All of the people slowly regain their composure and look at me surprised. I lower my hand and every item returns to its original place.

“Well.. I have to say, you truly have a remarkable gift.” A tall and lean black haired man whispers as he takes a step forward. “But this is not all.. is it?” My burgundy eyes meet his golden ones.

“Yes. I’m afraid, my power is much stronger than it looks like.” All of my listeners find their previous sitting places and continue to listen to me. “It is completely mental gift which goes as far as restraining other mental abilities, moving objects with my mind and.. inevitable persuasion.” I brush my hands down my perfectly shaped thighs and sit down again.

“So this is why I suddenly couldn’t read your mind. You blocked my power.” Edward leans against a dark wood bookcase and look intensively at me. But, I suppose, they all do.

“Yes, it’s true. But only for my own security. I don’t like it when other.. individuals scavenge through my thoughts. I apologize if it made you.. too aware of me.” I smile sweetly at him and he returns the favor.

“Excuse me..” A gorgeous blonde woman draws my attention.

“Selena.”

“Yes, Selena. You mentioned that even you couldn’t control it… Could you help us comprehend it?” she pulls her both arms in front of her and politely clasps them together. I sense a slight wave of nervousness radiating off of her frozen body. Not only the lady, but all of the creatures in this room seem a little too alert of me.

“My gift is so strong, that I am capable of ripping any kind of objects apart. Including humans.. and vampires.” I sigh knowing that if I started the story, I have to finish it. “As you all know, a newborn vampire is lots of times stronger than a regular vampire. When I awoke from my transformation, I couldn’t control my gift and kept destroying everything I set my eyes on. Carlisle found me and helped me control my thirst and my power. Unfortunately, my actions have had drawn too much attention by the time I could at least control myself. Unwanted attention from a certain coven.” The intensity of the glares darkened as soon as I mentioned the coven, which is threatening us all presently. Even a few growls rip out of their throats. I grin at this reaction, but continue with my story. “Carlisle informed me a lot about them, thought me the most important laws that mustn’t be broken and, of course, told me about their desire for powerful and unique members. I understood that if they will come to investigate, they will find out about my power and will make me join. I despised the idea of joining them, but you know what follows if you don’t. Death.” My speech receives a few more snarls. “I didn’t want to put Carlisle in any kind of danger so I ran away and hid in the deepest corners of the earth, changing my residence every year so it would be harder for them to find me.”

“Oh.. I’m so sorry..” Esme’s motherly voice soothes my nerves and I send her my most sincere smile. All of them look at me and now I finally don’t detect any kind of aversion or dissociation. Only sympathy and understanding. Well, since all of them are in practically the same situation today, understanding is quite common amongst them. I remember a very important trifle and glide my eyes across the room to Edward.

“Renesmee, Edward.. Who is she?” He looks taken aback by my question, but he realizes that I have a right to know.

“Bella and I are Renesmee’s biological parents.” My eyes widen.

“How could this be? It is simply impossible.” I breathe out completely shocked by the news.

“Renesmee was born while Bella was still a human. I know it is hard to believe, but it’s true. We were just as shocked that such a thing was actually possible..” Carlisle comes and stands next to me.

“At first we were even afraid, but now, we are utterly happy to have her here with us.” Esme smiles warmly once again.

“And, Selene..” Edward nods in my direction. “Thank you for not judging her without even knowing anything and thank you for giving her a chance.”

“She is a magnificent little girl. Innocent and endearing with no trace of danger…” My voice gets quiet. “And she is definitely not an immortal. No laws have been broken.” I look up and meet Carlisle amber eyes.

“They don’t know it yet. It doesn’t change their decision. They are coming.” Carlisle puts a hand on my shoulder. “We are hoping to solve this problem in a civilized manner. All of our friends are here as witnesses. Nothing else.”

“You know what might happen, Carlisle.” I whisper. “No matter what – I’m going to do anything I can to protect Renesmee.”

“Thank you. But let’s hope that it won’t come to that."
