And if the sun's upset and the sky goes cold
Then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall
I really need somebody to call my own
I wanna be somebody to someone
Someone to you

When Iris came back from Hogwarts, George was beyond excited to see her. This time he had a whole plan and nothing could come in his way, right?

He went to the station to pick her up with a wide grin and a ring in his pocket. She went up to him and hugged him tightly, "I missed you!"
"Me too!" George told her. She pulled away from him only to let out a small sneeze. George chuckled at her before taking her trunk, "I have a surprise" he told her and she grinned in excitement.
He had a full plan to take her to lunch and propose to her with a speech and everything.

By the time they reached the muggle restaurant and sat down for lunch, Iris had sneezed a dozen times, her nose turning completely red.
"Are you okay?" He asked her.
"I'm not sure" she sniffed a few times, "I think I caught something."
They ordered food anyways but Iris didn't seem to be getting any better. George reached over the table and placed the back of his hand on her forehead, "you're burning up" her face was tired but she still smiled.
"I'll be okay"
"No, we're going home now.."

And they came home, yet again, no ring.
"What happened?" Fred asked.
"She's sick! I didn't want her to be sick!" George whispered back and Lee rolled his eyes.
"The universe is against you" He told George and patted his back.

Iris didn't get any better for the next two days. Her cold and fever kept her on bed the whole day. Luckily, she was a healer and could self diagnose.
She made George go to the hospital and get her a few potions which made her much better by day three.

George wasn't in a good mood. His luck and timing were really not with him and he had given up on the planning.

Christmas came rather quickly and like every year, the Burrow was full of the Weasley clan and their extended families. Iris wanted to go home to her parents but they told her they were going to be at the burrow as well.

Red was a staple colour for Iris on Christmas, it brought out her light green eyes and it had become sort of a thing. Audrey always told her that red suited her best and she couldn't agree more.

George couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of her wearing red. Christmas was the first time George really spent time with her, he fell for her.

The burrow was crazy and everyone was tightly packed in it's warmth but no one minded it. George's eyes kept flickering to Iris, right here, a year ago, they had spent all Christmas night together and suddenly it washed over him, this was his moment.

In the spur of the moment, he ran over to his room and grabbed one of the smoke bombs from his old cupboard. His hands parted his pocket, where he always kept the ring with him.

Running down the stairs he found Fred, "I'm doing this now.." he whispered.
"Right now?"
"Yes, it's now or never, right?" Fred gave his twin a thumbs up and George walked up to Iris.

"I've got something" he smirked. Iris tilted her head slightly in confusion and George handed her the black smoke bomb.
"Would you do the honors?" Iris' grin widened, which she didn't know was possible. She looked to her left and to her right before nodding.
"There, two, one" at one she dropped it to the floor causing smoke to rise around them and everything went dark.
