"Is this my room?"

"Yes, sir, you may stay here tonight, young master-nim."

Alver finally felt that thrill after a long time. Cale will surely avoid her aunt's grateful gaze the moment he opens the door to this room. Click.

And then...

Bang!

See? He slammed the door shut with a thud. A long, deep sigh echoed once again.

He watched as the redhead dragged his feet into the room. Tasha quickly shut the door behind him. At the same time, he started to speak.

"This is not your room."

"Of course not, your highness."

With this fancy feast waiting for him, he couldn't help but smile at Cale..

I'm rich! This is nothing! hahahahhaha!

"I had no idea you'd come all the way out here to meet me."

"I am in a bit of a hurry."

Cale looked toward him, as he casually added on.

"Tunka assumed command of the Whipper Kingdom."

Tunka's group had begun to move after being dormant for several months. Tunka's position as commander-in-chief meant that the Whipper Kingdom's royalty had fallen into Tunka's hands.

Cale's uninterested tone could be heard.

"They've gotten themselves a one-way ticket to hell.""

Exactly. Alver started to smirk.

"Indeed, although it has nothing to do with us right now."

"I guess he doesn't know your highness stole all of the remaining mages?"

"Of course not; how could the Whipper Kingdom know when even our own people aren't sure?"

He and Cale exchanged glances.

Cale's bracelet slipped from his grasp and landed in his palm.

Siiizzle.

As black smoke engulfed his body, a noise resembling water hitting fire could be heard.

Click.

He put the bracelet on his wrist. He slowly revealed his dark-elf self.

"Your highness, your appearance is also quite lovely."

what—-?! The quarter Dark Elf, his true appearance, appeared in front of Cale.

The blonde hair and blue eyes vanished, to be replaced by brown hair and brown eyes. Alver's skin was also noticeably darker than that of most people. Even though he was only a quarter Dark Elf, the Dark Elf traits were obvious.

"Why are you asking such a simple question? Everything looks better when you're handsome."

I am handsome! Cale says I'm handsome! He likes my dark elf side!!!!

"The blessing of the God of Death. I'm relieved."

He could feel the power within the bracelet. He could also sense the impact of the blessings Cale bestowed upon him as a gift. As he continued to feel the power within the bracelet, he shared one piece of information with Cale.

"Tunka is said to be going to the Empire in place of the Whipper Kingdom's heir."

Cale started to frown.

"...Sounds like it will be a mess."

"I agree." You created that mess, actually.

Alver then asked Cale.

"Will you be spending time at home?"

"Yes, your highness. That is indeed the plan."

Cale appeared to be lost in thought for a few moments. He must be thinking about Whipeper Kingdom. It's irritating to think he's preoccupied with something else.

"What are your plans?"

"I intend to farm for a while and then rest."

Ugh. What was I expecting? His network, the seed he planted, the money he planted and grew all without even tending to them. He would only be giving orders and would not be doing any actual work.

This is what makes Cale Henituse so terrifying. a formidable opponent.

"I don't think anyone would believe you'll be farming with that expression on your face."

He's grateful that Cale chose to assist him rather than the Second and Third Prince; otherwise, he'd be facing much worse odds before this person decides which side to take.

Alver felt iffy about Cale's face. He could tell Cale had a lot of different plots forming in his head.

He's terrified of Cale but not of him.

Anyway, I need to watch for a while before deciding what to do.

However, he quickly returned to his blonde hair and blue-eyed appearance and said goodbye to Cale. He needed to quickly head over to the Empire.

Cale soon left the capital and headed back to Harris Village in the Forest of Darkness.

He didn't expect Cale to be so intimidating, to the point where this jerk Tunka actually called him a friend. A friend! He, the Crown Prince, should be the only person he's making contact with. He is now a confidante, but Cale has the audacity to be so close to others! Not only that, he's the hero of the jungle? When? how? What on earth has he been doing behind the scenes? Even Breck Kingdom's prince came to him and asked for his well-being!

Is he raising a force to usurp Rowoon?

No, he can't.

That's why he needed to call that trash and curse at him.

[A/N: sounds like a jealous husband.]

But Cale didn't answer

"Just what in hell have you been doing?'

His voice sounded quite chaotic.

"Why does Commander Tunka call you his friend? Why are you the hero of the jungle? Even one of the Breck Kingdom's princes was asking about you and his sister. Everybody stealthily came over to ask about you before leaving. You're driving me crazy."

He couldn't help but rant as he left that message for Cale.

He couldn't help but feel annoyed.

"hah! Cale Henituse, what on earth are you doing?" he exhales, slamming his hand on the table.

No, actually, this is quite good. This could go in my favor.

But the fact that Cale was much closer to them than him irritates him.

Theirs is a contractual relationship.

He sat on his chair and calmed himself. Just thinking about it, disheartens him.

"What should I do?" Everything that Cale is doing right now gives him doubt as to why he chose him.

Just the fact that he couldn't fully understand Cale gives him room for doubts and worries.

"Nephew."

He raised his head and motioned for his aunt to be quiet for a moment. He needed to steal himself in preparation for whatever outcome this contractual relationship might have.

Cale Henituse.

His name rolled wonderfully in his mouth.

Alver was sure.

He can't let Cale go anywhere else.

He'll be by his side.
