Pre season testing was already giving me a sense of what was to come in the actual season and I wasn't as nervous as before. Or so I thought.
Some teams were having the attention turned to them, more eyes waiting to see what they would bring and one of them was McLaren. New engine and new driver makes everyone's expectations go high and we are the ones to pay the price at the end of the day.
I would say the first day of testing was the best one but that would be a lie since today we ended with Lando in P2, but in a Ricciardo perspective yesterday's P7 was better than the P9 of today.
The good part? It doesn't mean anything race wise cause we're only testing and in Daniel's case getting used to the new car he's about to drive for the season but for tabloids is the cherry on top for all the articles they wanna create about Daniel making a mistake. Considering Alpine situation, I don't believe in it.
I was luckily staying in the behind the scenes with Daniel, I would articulate articles and media presence but I wasn't his PR so that annoying job luckily wasn't with me and I didn't have to follow him left and right around the paddock.
- HEY - I heard looking up from my phone while I passed the driver's "cubicle" inside the hospitality seeing Lando was already in there
- Hey, nice outcome today - I said resting my back at the door
- Well, thank you - He said holding his hand out to me and I took it entering the room and closing the door behind me - Where's Daniel?
- Interviews I think - I said while he pulled me closer by the waist to kiss me - Lando we're at work, anyone can come in
- No one will, don't worry - He said closing the space between us again and I just chose to trust his word this once
- I really need to go - I whispered while he placed his head in the crock of my neck - Daniel might come back and I won't be there
- Fine, but can I come over tonight?
- Sure, I'm meeting with Oscar when I get to the hotel but I should be free in two hours or so - I said and he nodded agreeing with me
- Text me when you're back - He said pecking my lips and I nodded leaving the room at the exact moment Jon was arriving
- Chloe? - He asked confused since I was normally at Daniel's
- That's me - I played cool and soon saw Daniel turn around the corner - Jesus Ricciardo, I was getting bored already - I joked since he's interviews took way longer than yesterday and he laughed hugging me
- Drama queen and hi British people - He said motioning to Jon and Lando who waved back while we entered the room.
Saved by Daniel I guess.
- You guys are so fucking cute - I said while Oscar showed me a photo of him and his girlfriend who I personally adored
- So, tell me about your love life - He said while we were laying down in the rooftop of the hotel
- Nonexistent - I lied seeing him laugh ironically
- I'm one of your closest friends, come on, I've seen you and Norris - He said and I looked shocked at him who laughed at me
- What do you mean?
- I wasn't certain but you guys were sharing a few looks and he was definitely jealous when you were with us from F2, therefore I placed one and one together, just needed the confirmation really - He joked and I sighed slapping his arm
- Tell a soul and I will kill you - I said making him laugh and hold his pinky towards me
- Pinky promise - He joked since I used to do that all the time - Now how exactly did this start?
- Remember the guy from Dubai? - I asked and he nodded - That was Lando, but I thought I wouldn't have to see him for a long time and whenever I came to a race it would have passed tine enough for him to forget my physiognomy but then I started working and well from day one it kinda just became jokes and making out with each other.
- And I guess telling Daniel wasn't something you did - He pointed out and I agreed
- I don't even know where this is going, for all I know it can only be for fun on his side, I'm not telling Daniel to then fuck the entire dynamic - I said and he looked at me carefully
- Do you already know what is on your side?
- I think I like him - I shrugged - But you know is more complicated then that
- Just don't overthink it, ok? I know how bad at this you're. - He said and I nodded - The guys and I are meeting up tomorrow night for the last night, do you wanna come?
- Yeah, I rather be with you guys than Daniel's F1 friends - I said honestly since I got along way better with Oscar's friends. - See you tomorrow?
- Absolutely - He said while we got up so I could go to my room and he could go back to his hotel which was in the same street
After leaving the elevator and finally entering my room I decided that before texting Lando I should make myself comfortable since it was known that we were in the same floor and he wouldn't take long to arrive in here and I knew I wouldn't want to do anything else other than cuddle him when he did.
While I did my skin care and changed into my comfy pajamas all I could think about was the end of my conversation with Oscar, was I already starting to overthink everything? Clearly we never expressed feelings openly, honestly is not even time enough to do this in my opinion but at the same time Dubai was a long time ago and by what people commented about it, it was quite a similar situation, except I actually knew who he was while he was trying to figure it out.
I guess just give time to see is still the best option, then I'll actually know how this goes. I just hope the outcome is not a negative one.
