"Danny pulled my hair, and I told the teacher," Sally said to the dark room.
"Did he get into trouble?" The deep voice under the bed asked.
"No, the teacher said something about talking to each other. He promised to not do it again." Sally said. "How did you know he wouldn't get into trouble?"
"Because children do mean things when they don't mean to." The deep voice said.
"Did you do mean things when you were a child?" Sally asked.
"Sometimes. My mother would scold me." The deep voice said with a hint of sadness.
"My mom does too. It's what moms do." Sally said.
"Yes, they do."
"Good night."
"Good night, Sally."
