that moment puts tears in her eyes
when your tiny limb of flesh and bone
catches her own finger

she gives you a peck on the forehead so full of joy
nothing could sever the connection
it's permanent and perfect and wonderful

hugs are tighter than any cocoon
comfort is more reassuring than the finest sheets
touches are more pleasant than breathing winds

you say you're not worthy of her love
that's it's too precious and beautiful
to break over again

but you are treasure to her
the flicker bringing dawn after the darkest of nights
an innocent pearl who won't be given up

it tries to pull you away from her
an army of icy blades
tugging on every possible string

but she's Mother Nature
with a rosy heart
and claws made of thorns

my mother is my safe haven
nothing could defeat that high wall
one cracked under a bed of fury

you mess with me
you mess with her
