Uh oh.  Society is on hold.   Let me take this.

"Hello?"

"Yes, is this the go-getter?"

"More so the dreamer, but I plan—"

"Great, thank you. Good day."

What a pleasant conversation.  But that's how it is in the real world.  If you want something, you need to take the initiative.  No one will pursue as hard or as long for an ambition you want to see through.  I know, I know, I'm guilty of this too.  Why don't I just cap the pen, close the book, shut the computer, and get up to do something adventurous if that's all I think about?  Good question.  The thing is, I've grounded myself in a routine where writing needs to happen daily.  I th—

Apologies, another call.

"Who is this?"

"Never mind that."

"But—"

"I have four words for you, and I'm only going to say them once:  Write less, live more."

"Jon Krakauer?"

"Good day to you too."

Okay, I got the message, and you should have too.  You know those four walls your eyes bulgingly stare at in the morning?  Break them down.  And the mask that's painted on your face right before your feet leave the front door?  Wipe it clean.  Leave the rubbish, hang the art—because my question is, how could a person every contribute a part of themselves to the world if they wait for someone to leave a trace they can build off of? 

I write because that's how I begin my path of adventure.
