I sat there, aware that every head in the Great Hall had turned to look at both Harry and me.

There was no applause. A buzzing, as though of angry bees, was starting to fill the Hall; some students were standing up to get a better look at us.

I was perfectly aware of the stare that Theo was giving me, his hands slid from his lap to tightly hold mine.

Up at the top table, Professor McGonagall had got to her feet and swept past Ludo Bagman and Professor Karkaroff to whisper urgently to Professor Dumbledore, who bent his ear toward her, frowning slightly.

I glanced at Harry who was frozen in his seat, and loudly clapped my hands drawing all the attention to me.

" Harry " I softly called but since the hall was too silent, Harry perked up at his name.

" Come " I stood up, only to be pulled back down

"What are you doing? Sit down " Theo said, his eyes wide with shock

" Please, you're making a scene "

" A scene? " He scoffed leaving my hand "Then so be it, yes I'm willing to make a scene for you. Sit down "

"I will not "  I stood up again

The entire hall moved their heads like a tennis ball, staring between me and Theo

" Lia, please sit down "

I shook my head and turned towards the hall to walk when suddenly I heard a chair drag behind me

"Sit" Astoria commanded "she will have to come back to the dorms, sit down "

I kept waking forward without looking back until I reached the Gryffindor tables and stretched my hand for my brother to take.

“Go on,” Hermione whispered, giving Harry a slight push.

Harry got to his feet, trod on the hem of his robes, and stumbled slightly. He intertwined our fingers and we set off up the gap between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables. It felt like an immensely long walk; the top table didn’t
seem to be getting any nearer at all, and I could feel hundreds and hundreds of eyes upon me, as though each were a searchlight.

The buzzing grew louder and louder. After what seemed like an hour, we were right in front of Dumbledore, feeling the stares of all the teachers upon us.

“Well . . . through the door, Potters,” said
Dumbledore. He wasn’t smiling.

We moved off along the teachers’ table. Hagrid was seated right at the end. He did not wink at us, or wave, or give any of his usual signs of greeting. He looked completely astonished and stared at us as we passed like everyone else.
