KING'S APARTMENT
OCTOBER 30th
10:21 a.m.

Damian was, unfortunately, right. That photo of the two was on almost every social media outlet teenagers use. The past twenty-four hours was filled with text messages, dm's, and snaps from jealous girls and horny guys. Lots of friend requests were made and she was tagged in a repost of that photo at least sixty times.

lilyparker: lmao who even are you?

iminlovewiththewaynes: you guys are so cute!

dustinfisher: wanna see my dick ahahah

Those were just the "toned down" ones. Some were threatening and a little scary, but others were kind and supporting. Of all the comments, no one seemed too threatening to scare Noelle.

And the worst part about this? Andrea learned about it through her coworkers at Wayne Enterprises. To hear a rumor about your daughter dating the CEO's son was pretty alarming.

Andrea was confused, livid, and insulted.

First, Noelle had to come up with a lie about how they met (something about the cafe). She wasn't sure if it was believable considering she'd never gone out with someone before. And second, she had to lie about why she didn't tell anyone. Social media today is very invasive, especially for someone like Damian Wayne.

The only truth she told was that they weren't in a romantic relationship and the picture was taken out of context.

"I mean," Andrea continues, finally tearing her eyes away from the photo, "he's the son of Bruce Wayne, my direct boss. I've had to work with him on many projects."

"Wait, then why do I go to public school?" Noelle jokes. She flinches as Andrea pops the side of her head. "Ah! Mama!"

"You do not get to joke about this!"

Noelle puts her hands up in defense, still sitting on the couch while Andrea stands in front of her. "I'm sorry! Damian wanted us to keep our friendship lowkey so I wouldn't have to go through, well, this."

"I understand from the rest of Gotham, but me? Your own mother?" Andrea shakes her head. "Is there anything else you're not telling me about?"

Noelle looks her mother in the eye. "Of course not, Mama," she lies, "You know I wouldn't lie to you unless I thought it was important." Noelle stands up before giving a reassuring smile. "Besides, I didn't want to stress you out."

"Stress out?" Andrea repeats. "I am not stressed out."

"Mama, you were just yelling at me because I'm friends with your boss's son."

"I yelled because he is not just my boss's son, he is Bruce Wayne's son!"

"A fact I am well aware of," Noelle notes before walking away from her mother and to the kitchen. She grabs an apple from the fridge. She gives her mother a small smile. "I promise, nothing bad is gonna come from this."

You thought the same thing about Jade, her mind reminds. She gulps at the thought before biting into her apple.

Andrea sighs. "I just want to make sure you're not going to get too much unnecessary attention."

Noelle gives a dismissive wave. "It'll be old news within the week."

Her phone suddenly rings, making both King women jump in surprise. Noelle pulls her phone from her pocket, staring at the contact name flashing on the screen.

og stefan doppelgänger... is calling

Noelle's stomach drops. She hadn't spoken to Silas since the hospital due to her lockdown. This was the best chance to see how he's doing. Maybe they could meet up and talk or hang out again.
