RED
I smile and pull away breathing in the heavy scent of antiseptic around me. I open my eyes and zero in on my mate's rough features.
A beard has grown on his face, black eye bags prominent against his olive skin but his eyes were hyper- aware and very much alive, his wolf was on the surface and I couldn't help but smile. I finally I have a mate. A strong Alpha at that.
An Alpha.
As the thought crosses my mind I couldn't help but feel a small tinge of sadness. Vos must know that I have no wolf by now. I don't even have a scent anymore will I really live up to being his mate? Can someone human-like wolf, like me be an effective Luna?
But before doubt creeps into my mind, I feel two rough hands on either side of my face.
"I love you." I smile and lean in to his touch.
"My wolf..." Vos heaves out a small chuckle.
"We can buy you a wolf dog." I giggle at the absurdity of his statement but it makes me feel better.
"Red." I pull away. "No matter what you are, even if you can't shift even if you have no wolf, nothing will change." I smile at his words but I know better than anyone, this will put a strain on his position. People will judge him hard.
"You're the Alpha and-"
"My brother is taking over for me in The North, Orion is still Alpha of the Titan Pack if he doesn't accept being crown prince then I'd have no position." My heart sets into a different pace as his words sink in. "Even if I have to forfeit being Alpha I'll do it."
I launch myself on his lap and wrap my arms around him. "Don't you dare do that." I whisper quietly trying to calm his almost raging wolf. "Knowing Orion, he's going to accept it if it's what Sapphire wants."
"I would never ever ask that of you." I lean against his shoulder and silently thank the Goddess that even though I have no more wolf, I could still feel all these sparks and bubbles when I touch my mate. As I feel his wolf calm down, I whisper. "No matter what you are, I will stand as your equal. Plus, if you become Alpha of the Titan pack I'll still be in the palace which means I'm still Sapphire's right hand which means no one can mess with me!" I sit up straight and smile at the thought.
I feel Vos' arms wound around my waist tighter. "I can protect you from anyone, don't you believe me?" I laugh and shake my head.
"I know you can, but honestly Sapphire scares me more than you do." His eyebrows shoot up and I massage them back down. "Like you're this big fluff ball and Sapphire is this raging beast when she's mad. Oh! Orion can be scary too but he also becomes a fluff ball with Sapphire around so I'm safe!" I breathe out and laugh when I realise I said all that in one breath.
"You think I'm a fluff ball?" He asks, pulling away from me.
"That's all you got from my five minute ramble?" I counter crossing my arms over my chest.
"Nope." He replies staring at me now pushed up bosom. I gasp and jokingly slap him as I uncross my arms and bite my lower lip when I felt the heat pool at the bottom of my stomach and red rise to my cheeks.
"Vos." I whisper as his eyes change from their light color to black. He leans in slowly but I don't move back. I wait for the feel of his lips on mine-
"Alpha! Red just woke up! No sex yet!" My eyes widen in mortification as my mother's voice floats around us and I bury my face in my hands as Vos pulls back and roars a laugh.
Well, now at least you know how embarrassing you can be sometimes.
