There's us, there's everyone over there
In the deep silence, love will be our affair
Constant, thoughtful, beautiful are you in the sky
Once more, let me see the infinite sparkles in your eye
We are here, focus on what you can see
Why, my love, why the next morning, you aren't here?
I ask, out of confusion, the reason you chose instead
Am I too unsuited for your wishes, not met?
Because I remember the time I first got you in my arms
When you are going through things, I held you despite swarms
Back then, even in the moonlight, I held you close
"One more day," I whisper in the darkness, morose

The story could have been fun, bright, and rosy
But things turned dark, grim, and dirty
We could have been what we dreamed to be
But love failed us, so why should we be sorry?
You thought so too? How is it now that you're alone?
All my love could have been yours if only you stayed one night more
On the eve of memories, the times spent return, trying to atone
All my heart could have been yours if you took it from the core
How sad is it, the way love died in front of us
Because, as all things, nurturing it wasn't tasked
It's too late now to find what went wrong
But "One more step," I said, one more to find our song

Beginnings and endings don't matter now that they're gone
Memories shattered into thousand pieces from one
From the heart comes the deepest apology when we realize
That what we had is never what we wanted or idolized
This is love, that of which we can find no meaning
Hearts are liars and brains are nothing but confusing
We listen, trying to interpret both
But we get tongue-tied in saying what mattered most
There is nothing we could do but one thing remains
Wherever you go, you can't erase love's littlest trace
In the darkest of nights when you are about to leave
"One more chance," I said, heart set to believe

You turned, that day, turned away from me
I didn't call you back because I know you don't want to see
It must have been pain, how joined souls are torn apart
Must have been agony to know how hard it is to have a suffering heart
You should, by now, because I see you on a white bed
Eyes looking over, searching for the chance you wasted
We met once again after years of living different lives
I was struck, the memory in my head instantly dives
I am reminded of the love we failed to save
You smiled the saddest smiles dying hearts always gave
Tears flowing, knees crumpling, I held your hands again
"One more time," I pleaded until your last breath has been given

You turned, that day, turned away from meI didn't call you back because I know you don't want to seeIt must have been pain, how joined souls are torn apartMust have been agony to know how hard it is to have a suffering heartYou should, by now, bec...

I am sad now. My past self really knew how to hurt me. ;-;

I think this poem is one of the straightforward ones out there and it tells a story. It's a sad, sad poem all throughout and I couldn't believe I wrote this back when I was seventeen. Man, hard times those were.

How about you? What do you think of this poem? Comment below. :)
