The Promise

**Years Later After College **

When I woke up , Alex was beside me looking at me .
"Morning , my beautiful ," He said .
"Morning love ," I said as I gave him a kiss.
"What do you wanna do today ?" He asked.
"Well , I have to go to work and so do you ," I said .
"No , I don't wanna ," He said whinning like a baby .

"Get up ," I said as I got out from the bed and went to the bathroom to get ready for work .
When I came out , Alex went to the bathroom .
I went to the kitchen and sat down on one of the chairs and picked up a photo of my parents and Alex's mother .
Then I felt Alex's hand on my shoulder .

"I miss them so much ,"I said as tear escaped my eye.
"Don't cry . They wouldn't have wanted that . I miss them too ," Alex said as he took the picture from my hands and turned me around and hugged me.
"I can't believe they're gone ," I said .
"Me too ," He said as let me go and watched me in the face and wipped away my tears .

You're probably wondering what happened to our parents .
They were sick while we were on the cruise and also while they were trying to put me and Alex together . They died a little while after our graduation from college . They hid that were sick from us.
"What do you want for breakfast ?" Alex asked me going near to the stove .
"My favorite ," I said getting in a happy mood .

When my favorite breakfast was ready , I ate it and then both of us went to work . Mine was at law firm . 
I worked a few extra hours on some cases that I had . When I was tried , I went home.
When I opened the door ,  the lights were off . When I turned on the lights , there were red pedals from roses in a line leading to our great backyard .

There I saw Alex in a tux that looked really handsome on him .
"What's all this ?" I asked him .
"Just listen ," He said as he took my things and set them aside .
"Beth , I honestly can't believe that I found my way back to you. That was what I promised you before I left . When I came back and also while you were dating Jake , I didn't think that we could be together again . But when our parents made us go on that cruise , at first I didn't like it but then I saw that this gave me a chance to see where us can go ,".

"Alex what are saying ?" I said coming more closer to him .
"I'm saying that I love you and I want to spend the rest of life with you . Beth Jones , will you marry me ? " Alex said as he got down on one knee and opened a small box that held the ring.
"Alex ," I said in shock as I looked at him and the ring .
Some tears of joy came from my eyes and down my face as I nodded yes .
I said ," Yes , I will ".

He got up and kissed me and people came out of nowhere and started cheering.
I jumped and saw that it was my bestfriends and a few people from Alex and I work .
Alex put the ring on my finger and it looked gorgeous .

We then went inside and celebrated . Cathy , Ally , Ethan (Cathy's boyfriend ) and Jake all talked and caught up on things we have done so far in our lives .
