Chapter 18. Melissa Shield

Hey Jarvis." - Talking

'I wish I had Jarvis.' - Thinking

"All systems up and running." - Jarvis, Phone call, Robot making noise.

"Hello there." - Person with heavy accent speaking.

Iron Man. - Time, POV, A/N, Location

Izuku Midoriya's POV- Present Time

I walked to the dorms after school ended. I didn't really pay attention today, if I had an assignment though I did complete it. There is just something that is killing me. 'How do I face the daughter of the man who is dead because of me?' I think it over and over again.

I enter the dorm building and see Kirishima and Mina watching something on TV in the living room and Sato baking something in the kitchen. I give them a small smile and walk up to my room.

I approach my door and clench my fists in again. My door is covered in paint, flour, eggs, and feathers. "What the hell!!" I shout out as blue lightning pours out of my fingers. I realize I'm using my quirk and stop it. I groan and go up to my door and see a piece of paper next to it.

Written on it said, "What a shame! Maybe you can fix this with all of that money of yours." I growl and tear it off the wall and rip it in a million pieces. One, I already know who did this because of last night. And two. I have security cameras planted in front of my dorm room.

I march in the living room and glare at her. I walk up to her and sit down next to her and put on a fake smile. "Be a shame if somebody was caught on my security cameras from vandalizing my door. Right?" I ask her with a smile and she freezes. 

"I-I don't know what you're talking about Deku!" Uraraka says as she intensely stares at the TV screen. "Ah. So this isn't you?" I get my phone out and show her the video of her vandalizing my door at around 12:30 which is our lunch break.

She doesn't answer me and just walks up to her room. 'What a-' My thoughts get cut off when a gorgeous, tall, blonde wearing glasses walks into the building with a suitcase behind her. "Excuse me, I'm looking for a Izuku Midoriya?" She says to the people in the living room.

I try to get up and walk away but Mina grabs my arm forcing me to stay. "Yep! He's right here!" She shouts and Melissa smiles at her and walks up to me. "Please don't kill me." I mutter under my breath. She slaps me in the face.

"Okay I deserved that." I say and she nods and slaps me again. "Also that." I tell her and she nods once again. "Better?" I ask and she gives me a fake smile before slapping me again. "Dammit I get it!" I shout at her.

"But can we do this somewhere else?!" I yell and she gives me a dirty look before nodding. I gesture her to follow me as I walk outside and to the UA Rose Garden. I look around me with all the bushes and roses. She walks up to me.

"Explain what happened to him, now!" She shouts at me and I nod. "Just know, that I haven't told this to anybody. Hell I've tried to avoid talking about it to the Pro Heroes since it wasn't the best vacation for me. So don't tell anybody." I tell her and she nods before sitting down on a stone bench.

"So. It all started around three months ago. There was a power outage in U.A. so I went to investigate with another student. We walked into a corridor trying to find the problem, but we never did. A piece of my tech rolled onto the floor hitting my classmate's shoe. He picked it up, curious to see what it was. But I knew what it was. A modified piece of my tech, originally it could create a smoke screen for fighting villains. But instead of producing the smoke, it blew up right in his face, leaving me pretty injured. And killing him immediately." I pause and take a break, not looking at her.

"I don't really remember how I got to the place I was being held. But I do remember being rushed into immediate surgery. I think at one point I woke up during it." I say and think about it before taking off my uniform shirt and the black circle covering the Arc Reactor.

Melissa gasps and stands up to inspect this. "What is this?" She asks and I get ready to explain it. "It's almost like some kind of energy generator, but what is it generating?" She asks me and I smile before putting my shirt back on.

"It is generating enough energy to keep the bits of shrapnel from the bomb entering my heart." I tell her and she sits back down. "But this isn't what they originally gave me. Your Dad saved me by preforming the surgery, and giving me and electromagnetic battery hooked up to a car battery." I look at her and see how she is entranced by my story.

"Now this is another thing you can't tell anybody, but when I woke up I saw that it was in my chest. I freaked out and immediately tried to escape by using my quirk. But instead I passed out, after I escaped and noticed the absence of my quirk. I realized I had lost control of it, not allowing me to summon it." She gives me a sad look but I ignore it and continue.

"After that I met your Dad. Who was being held hostage to make devices for them. I became friends with him and he helped me create this." I tap my chest. "He also helped me create the device to escape that had to be piloted by me. But as I we were about to start the plan. He noticed that the men were coming to fast. So he took a gun, and ran off screaming and firing in the air." I take a small break.

"The next time I saw him... He was bleeding out on the floor. I tried to save him but he was too far gone.. His last words were 'At least I could be a hero one last time.'" I tell her sadly.

She stands up and rubs my shoulder. "I'm sorry for hitting you, and I'm really sorry for what you had to go through." I just nod and listen to her telling about when David was taken for her when suddenly I hear a clicking noise. "Oh no." I mutter as I go close to the noise and see somebody hiding behind the bushes with a camera.

'They got a photo of the Arc Reactor.' I think to myself as I go to snatch the camera out of their hands but it is too late. I get a good look at the person and, guess who it is?

My favorite brown haired person. Great.

How did you like this chapter? It was a bit rushed but I'm so busy with school work that I haven't been able to post. Also, Melissa finally enters the story!!! Have a great day true believers! Peace :)
