I stare at the message for what feels like hours. And the only conclusion I can come to is that HES is most definitely not behind bars.

He is free and thriving and sending me gifts.

"Will you help bring in groceries?"

I jump, putting the lid back on the box and quickly spinning around to face my father. "Umm... yeah, sure."

Once he walks back out the front door, I run up the stairs and hide the box in the back of my closet.

Just until I know what to do with it. I promise myself before going back downstairs to help with unloading the car.

I'm not surprised to see Layla standing at the end of the driveway, not helping at all. What does surprise me is the boy who looks about her age standing with her.

"Who's that?" I ask my dad as I grab a gallon of milk and a random shopping bag from the trunk.

"Alex. He ran into Layla at the grocery store. They know each other from school, I guess." He replies as we walk inside.

"I'm glad to see she still keeps up with friends. She's been so... not herself, recently." I set down the groceries on the counter and notice I left the note on the kitchen table.

Quickly I walk over to it, fold it in half and stick it in my back pocket.

Just until I figure out what to do with it. I promise myself again.

At yet another boring, rainy day at the cafe, there are only a few people scattered around at various tables.

Today it's just Mike and I working. Hannah had somewhere she needed to be and Molly's mother insisted she focus on her schoolwork for a while. But the girl who trained me the first day, Natalie, has been missing since yesterday.

Everyone is worried. No one knows it very well could be HES but me.

"Could I have s'more decaf, love?" Someone says as I pass.

I turn and smile despite the running thoughts theough my mind. "Sure." And I pour the coffee into his mug.

"Thanks." He smiles and I notice he has blue eyes that sparkle when he does. And straight brown hair. "What's your name?"

"Umm.. Mason." I say, not used to people asking. Normally they just take their coffee and smile.

"I'm Louis." He says. "Louis Tomlinson. I come here sometimes and can't help but notice how pretty you are--sorry if I'm being too straightforward."

Tomlinson. Where have I heard that before?

"Oh, it's fine." I say awkwardly. "But I have a boyfriend."

"Lucky him." Louis just smiles.

"Well, I shouls get back to work but let me know if you need anything else."

"Oh trust me, I will." He smirks and I'm not really sure why but suddenly I feel very uncomfortable.

Quickly, I walk back behind the counter where Mike is wiping up a spill.

"Flirting on the job, are we?" Mike smiles.

"Umm, no. More like he was flirting with me and it was weird." I laugh awkwardly.
