Dark Wall

"He's gone." I sigh. "We're too late."
"A little less mourning, please." Iraq says rolling his eyes.

I hate it when people think I'm being cold.

"Sorry." I mutter.

And I hate having to be sorry for something I didn't do!

"Yeah right." Iraq sighs, more frustrated with the death of so many Countries than me... hopefully.

"What do we do now?" Slovakia asks.
No one answers. We continue to walk on the sand of the beach.

If only Belgium were here to see.

"I have to go home." I say. "I have to tell the others that Germany, UK and Norway are not coming back."

"I'm coming with you." China says. "I don't think that we're going anywhere with this. We're all going to die sooner or later. I guess I could help you get home to your family."
"Thanks." Gratitude filled me.

So I guess I don't have to do this journey on my own.

"Oh I'm not leaving your side. You can put on an act but you can't fool me." Japan says crossing his arms.

"Well I guess this is good bye then." I say, turning to Canada.

"I guess so. Get home safely. All of you."

You open your eyes. A beautiful landscape with trees and mountains filled your senses.

So this is Romania? It's breathtaking.

The sky was bright blue and the trees started getting a red and orange tint. Birds were singing and the whole mood kind of calmed you down. You were standing right in front of a castle. It's orange roof towered into the blue sky.

"It was built in the Renaissance." Romania murmurs next to you.
You turn to him. "It looks beautiful." You say.
"Mulțumesc iubire." He smiles. "Lasă-mă să ți-l arăt." He says, starting to walk slowly towards the castle, turning to you and looking at you expectingly. You follow him.

You go onto a wooden bridge, that was leading you to the entrance. A calm breeze ruffled your hair.
"Arătați frumos. Dacă ai ști cât de important ești pentru mine." He smiles.
You walk next each other. Your shoes tapping onto the wooden planks.

You look up to the high stone walls with awe. A crow starts cawing and flies above you. "If we were here at night it would give a very impressive Dracula vibe." USA says, looking up to the towers. Romania rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

"Don't you like Dracula?" You ask him.
"I don't like being associated with him, no." He sighs.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." USA says, stretching out his hand in apology. Romania raised an eyebrow, not sure if he was being mocked or USA was actually trying to be nice, but he shakes his hand eventually.

"Thanks I guess." He mumbles.
You smile at Romania's non-social behavior.

He wasn't kidding when he says he loved to be on his own, where no one bothers him. I guess he doesn't trust people because of them throwing stereotypes at him.

You enter the court. It was smaller than the other ones you've seen. Stairs went up to the left. Romania nodded that way and you catch up to him.
"It gives off a medieval vibe." You say.
Romania nods. "It's supposed to, it was built back then." He smiles. You walk around the court and look out into the woods, beyond the castle walls. Then you enter the first room.

A long table with medieval chairs was aligned there. You could imagine the kings and queens eat here together with their family.

I wonder if someday people will go through our houses, maybe the White House will be an exhibit. They'll try to imagine what it was like to live at our times. If there ever will be more future generations. You never know with climate change going on...

You walk through the halls of the castle, one by one. Romania explained how this was also used as a fortress. You smiled.

It's nice not to have to think about anything else other than our friendship. I have all of them here with me, we have a house. We're safe and have food to eat. What could possibly go wrong?

The night brought cool winds with it. Me, Japan and China were on the way to my family. I fiddled with my thumbs, while watching the dark wall in the distance from the window in the bus.

It really does spread fast. I hope the others are okay.

I return my attention to what I was going to tell my family. The words sounded dull as I repeated them in my head.

Hey guys, I'm sorry. Looks like we're all going to die. The wall is unstoppable and half of the balkans have already lost their home. Unfortunately Deutschland, Vereinigtes Königreich and Norwegen are already dead, so I guess it's not that bad if we join them.

I shook my head.

This is stupid. I can't tell them. I've never been good with telling people bad news. Why am I like this? Why is it so hard for me to express negative emotions? Of course I'm sad that they're gone, but I can't seem sad. Everybody thinks I'm cold and I couldn't care less.

I look at the wall of darkness behind us once more.

How fast I just gave up hope of surviving this. Never before have I felt like it was hopeless. I usually don't look at a problem and start immediately giving up. I always try to think of something. But this really just seems hopeless. I can't believe that after so many years and everything I've been through and had fought for, I'm just ready to give up. But it seems the same with China too. He would always know when was a time to fight for the right thing. But now? He seemed just as empty as me. Japan? He hasn't given up just yet. He wants to find out what the cause is. But by all good means, I don't think there is a way to do so. It's over.

@seolyuri, @HarrisBee and @DevinylFNF, I'm sorry I have stopped writing for so long. The last days have been crazy. Funerals, Birthdays, family drama and friends drama, exams, concerts, you name it. But I'm back. Even if this chapter is super short. I hope it won't happen again. I feel really bad for leaving you guys after all the support you've shown me. I hope you enjoyed the chapter, see you in the next one.
