"I'm gay." I gasped. Why hadn't he told me sooner?

"And I'm in love with you." That's why.

I sat there, shocked. I didn't know what to say or think. I looked down at my cup.

"How long..." I said slowly and quietly. "What?" He asked. "How long have you been in love with me?" I asked him. "A-A while..." He answered. I was surprised.

The old me would be very happy and probably kiss him right there, but the new me didn't want to be gay. Especially for someone who they never dreamed would feel the same.

"I'm sorry, but I don't feel the same." I told him. Dan nodded. "I didn't think you would. I just couldn't keep something like this from you."

I wish I were strong like him. Then I could have told him sooner, rather than never.

"I need to leave." I told him. He looked shocked. "Just for a walk, to clear my head." Dan nodded. "Take your time."

"Don't come looking for me." I told him. "...Okay..." He answered, probably confused. I got up and put on my coat. I left the apartment and started down the street.

Dan's POV (3 hours later)

He's been gone a long time... And it's all your fault. No. He said he'd be back. Maybe he lied. He wouldn't lie about something like that.

(3 hours later.)

It was getting late, and Phil still wasn't back yet. I know he told me not to look for him, but it's been six hours... I don't care if he hates me for it, but I can't stand not knowing if he's safe or not.

I rang him up, but he didn't answer. Now I was really worried.

I put on my coat and shoes, and put my keys in my pocket. I started to head outside, when I saw the sillouhette of someone I would know from a mile away.

"Phil!" I yelled. He looked up. "I told you not to look for me." He told me seriously. "I know, but it's been 6 hours and I was worried you had gotten hurt. You didn't answer your phone."

Phil's face looked annoyed. His eyes were red and puffy. He had been crying. "I'm sorry, Phil." I said quietly. He turned around and started walking away.

"Please, Phil! I'm sorry! COME BACK!" I yelled down the street to my best friend. "We can pretend that I never said anything!" He kept walking. "I'm sorry..." I said again, quietly this time... "I'm sorry..."
