"Ha-- Unbelievable!" Noah exclaimed, as he shut his mouth in astonishment and confusion.

Aria, the child who Noah had saved just that morning, now asked to be adopted by Noah.

Noah simply couldn't believe it.

"Then why should I adopt you?" he asked, his tone filled with doubt that he should accept such a strange request.

"No, it's only a temporary adoption," Aria explained to Noah.

Noah still didn't understand what she was going on about, and simply asked, "What do you mean...?"

"You don't need to love me," Aria continued to explain herself. "It's just an adoption; I don't care about the successor of the Valentine. If I turn adult, I will leave this house."

Noah stared at Aria with confusion, but said nothing. He didn't like children, and this was making him even more uncomfortable.

".... "

'I just only save you because you have silver hair...' Noah though, who still felt uncomfortable with the entire situation, tried to find a way to refuse Aria's odd request.

He thought for a moment, and simply said, "Then Duke, can I just stay here for a few days..."

Noah didn't hate Aria's silver hair, but he had a feeling that this whole situation was reminding him of someone, and it made him uncomfortable.

But as soon as Aria started to bow to him and beg him to let her stay for a few days, Noah gave in.

"Just for a few days... let me stay here."

"Hey kid, I didn't ask you to kneel down," Noah suddenly said in annoyance.

"I saved you, so get out of here and go to your family!"

"I don't have family," Aria quickly protested.

"Just please let me stay here. Please, I'm begging! I'm useful!"

For the first time, Aria looked weak, and even seemed desperate to have Noah let her stay. This made Noah somewhat curious, as if there was something more to her than meets the eye...

"Ugh, why, you have silver hair?" Noah exclaimed in annoyance, before he simply said, "Forget it, fine. In just one year."

As for Aria, she looked more confused at Noah's sudden outburst, but also was happy that he allowed her to stay.

"Ah, that means I can stay here until then, right?" Aria wanted to make sure for it.

Noah looked annoyed and confused by Aria's persistent nature, but he finally conceded, and said, "Do what you want."

And just like that, he snapped his fingers, and suddenly disappeared.

Aria was shocked by this sudden disappearance, and was left alone to do whatever she wanted.

'Aria was now alone in the black mansion, and decided to lay down in the bed for a while.

She then took the blanket and wrapped it around herself as she thought about the Duke's decision.

"Just what is the Duke's ability?", she wondered to herself.

"Now I can stay here in this mansion for a whole year, it's okay. I just need to be useful for him," she said with a hopeful look on her face.

"I wish my plan is going smoothly..."

Aria's room was located on the second floor, a much more humble place compared to where the Duke usually spent his time.
