Giovanni Liotti

When the door flew down from the frame, and my eyes took in at the scene in front of me, I let out an audible gasp. Everything looked like a disaster. There were bags full of food lying on the table. The food I sent her. I always hoped that she was eating, but very deep down, I had an intuition that she wasn't eating at all.

"Marina?" I yelled, as I walked inside of the small apartment. I saw that she had been sleeping on the couch, as it was a mess, with a blanket on the floor next to it. I walked to the small coffee table that she had in front of the couch, and saw rests of white powder all over the table. My eyes went wide, but my breathing stopped when I saw a needle with a burn spoon next to it. "Cazzo." I cursed out loud, and ran to look for her. I flew open the only other door that this apartment had, and I almost fainted.

Marina was lying against the wall, with blood all over her clothes. Blood was still running down her arms and legs. I felt like I was going to throw up. I ran inside of the small bathroom, and bent down. I brushed her hair out of her face.

"Fucking shit, Marina." I cried. I looked at her, and without thinking one more second, I scooped her in my arms and ran out of the bathroom. The five men that came with me turned around, and all of their eyes went wide at the small body of Marina in my arms full of her own blood. Chris ran to me, and he tried to touch her, but he pulled away.

"What-what happened?" He stuttered, while looking at the girls in my arms. "Who did this?" He demanded, looking up at me.

"She did it." I simply said, remembering the razors she had next to her on the floor. "This is not the time to discuss anything." I said. "We need to take her to the hospital to see if we can save her." I explained. "I don't even know if she is alive." I yelled as I walked out of the apartment and ran down the stairs. I put her inside of my car, not giving a single fuck about the blood. "Meet me at the hospital." I told Angelo and Chris. "Stay here, just in case the Russians have anything to do with this." I pointed at the rest of them. They nodded, and I rushed to the other side of the car, and sped through the narrow streets, trying to not crush.

I kept my hand on her neck, making sure that her pulse didn't slow down even more. But it did. I felt the temperature of her body drop every second. She started shivering unconsciously. I felt tears gathering in my water line, but I blinked them away, not wanting to cry right now. The only thing I wanted right now was to get to the hospital as fast as I could. I swerved, when a car which was turning almost hit me. In those kinds of situations I would have stepped out of the car, but as I said, not time for me, or my revenges.

I saw the lights of the hospital's sign, and seeing that the roads were almost empty, I sped up. I parked my car right on the entrance, and ran to her side, and picked her pale, cold body, and ran inside.

"Please, someone help me." I yelled, not being able to contain my tears anymore. I saw two nurses running towards me with a hospital bed.

"What happened?" The nurses asked me, as we walked as fast as we could wherever they were carrying her.

"I went to her house, and she didn't open the door, I kicked it down, and I found her passed out in the bathroom with cuts all over her body," I looked down at the little body, as the doctor opened her eyes, and used the light. "And-" I choked up a bit.

"Has she ever done this before?" The doctor asked.

"Yes, she has her body full of scars." I nodded.

"What else do you think can have happened?" The nurse asked.

"I think she had a drug overdose as well." I told the nurse. "The coffee table was full of white powder." I explained. The nurse stopped me, and they ran her inside of a room. "Please, let me be with her." I pleaded with the nurse, who looked at me with sympathy. I had never felt so vulnerable in my life. Who would have told me that a girl like her would have such an impact in my life.
