A/N: requested by MakenaPotter - motivation is at a new rock bottom so guess what i made this into headcanons (sorry, i couldn't remember if this was dad rex or significant other rex.... oops)
• Best believe Rex turns into a dad and makes sure you're able to keep plants alive and remember to water them before you buy the little blue T-Rex you saw in the pet store
• He also does the dad thing where he's like 'ugh I hate animals' then ends up spending more time with said animal than you do
• In the end, you name the T-Rex after Rex - he's the exact shade of blue the 501st use for their armour, and he turns out to be just as skilled at taking out clankers as Rex, if not more
• So, the T-Rex gets called Rian, or little king, and he's an absolute bundle of joy (and trouble)
• Although Rex was sceptical at first, you whittled him down with the help of Anakin, who took the same immediate liking to Rian as you did - both of you crammed yourself into the tiny pen in the corner of the pet store, cross legged with your backs hurting so you could sit with Rian and get to know him a bit more
• He was quite small when you first met him, about the same size as a juvenile anooba, but just as squeaky and excitable
• He would run in circles around you and Anakin, letting out these adorable, high pitched screeches that Rex claimed to hate, his little crest of soft blue feathers waggling at you as he tripped over his own tail
• Rian got into the habit of jumping with his tiny but powerful legs and latching onto people's arms with his tinier but just as powerful arms, nipping playfully at their shoulders or face as they struggled under his weight
• He grows to around his full size in less than a year, which brings the top of his scaly head level with the bottom of Rex's helmet, but he's an extremely bottom heavy animal and weights far more than a clone trooper
• Every now and then, you can hear Rex's laughter float through the clone quarters, and everyone knows that Rian's ambushed Rex, jumping onto him and pinning him down on the floor, his strong tail wagging and keeping anyone in their vicinity from dragging him off the commander
• All of the clones in the 501st have a soft spot for Rian, but Hardcase especially adores the little T-Rex: you can often spot them causing absolute havoc, sprinting through the Jedi Temple and chasing each other through corridors
• Fives has also been often caught slipping Rian food in the mess hall, and has found the perfect spot to itch on Rian's belly
• Honestly, though, they all love the blue dinosaur - Echo and Kix made sure Rian was fitted with some armour after they realised how good he was at taking out droids, and now he's often seen on the battle field, ripping droids apart with his strong jaws, bounding through the ranks of clones to take out clankers left and right
• At the end of the day, though, Rian is a total softie, curling up by your side and resting his head in your lap, his tail thumping sleepily against the mattress when Rex comes to bed too, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead
• All in all, Rian is absolutely the 501st's mascot and literally everyone loves him, no matter how much chaos he causes, because he's so cute
