Meredith woke up in an comfortable and soft bed the next morning, but how?

She let her eyes wander around the room and that's when he saw Nick sitting in a chair with his laptop on the table as he seemed to be updating his own research. Observing him for sometime, still laying in bed. She couldn't help but rethink all the memories they spent at the cabinet together. The first night after buying it, their first mind-blowing sex in the bed sheets currently laying in, their breakfast in bed together and all their cuddles and movie nights, she couldn't help but tear up a little bit.

She slowly stood up, swaying a little and falling back on the bed and immediately noticed by Nick when he sprinted toward her kneeling down as she kept her eyes closed,as a small tear left her eyes.

"A-are you okay?" he asked worried

"Hmmh" she answered in response still closing her eyes, "just need a minute, I'm a little dizzy" she added taking a deep breath. Opening her eyes, she was immediately met by the pair of his green eyes looking at her with a concern look in his eyes. "E-excuse me" she said quietly and walked past him.

He slowly followed her downstairs and heard her in the kitchen, talking on the phone.

"Y-yeah, it's getting better...Link said I'll be able to take it off in 2 weeks or so and I have a follow-up check up tomorrow" she added. He listened carefully and walked into the kitchen as well. Is she talking to Alex? No! Because if so she wouldn't be this —shy? or need to tell him about her appointment because Nick's sure as hell Alex was with Meredith the entire time.

"And you said you're staying at a cabin? Can I join?" Nick then heard when Meredith put the phone on speaker as Meredith started to make herself a cup of coffee

"It's almost 6 hours drive, you can't" Meredith chuckled, "also, I can't just let you come here it's not mine anymore...but I promise, when I buy my own cabin you're the first one to see it" she added with a giggle. God how much he missed her giggle.

"Is it your husbands? Oh sorry... ex-husband's" the man on the phone asked

"Y-yeah" Meredith hesitantly answered, "Hey Andrew, I gotta call Alex I'll call you later, okay?"

"Okay,I miss you already...Mer"  he said over the phone and you can clearly tell he's smiling

"Get better for me,okay?" she then said before they hang up.

She placed his phone in her sweats pocket before picking up her coffee with her left hand and turned around only to see Him standing by the doorway with his arms crossed on his chest.

"How'd you sleep?" he asked first, instead of directly asking who was she talking to on the phone.

It's not like it's any of his business to know is she's seeing someone right?

"Good" she shortly answered, sitting on the couch as Nick sat on a single couch.

"How long have you um..been staying here?" he ask again after some awkward silence

"Almost 3 weeks," she began, and he nodded "I know I should have told you first before staying here because it's yours and um... don't worry, I'll call Alex to pick me up tonight and have the whole house clean and sanitize for you" she stammered, avoiding his eyes

"It's okay... you don't have to leave." he softly said, looking at thw ground, "You said you've been staying here for almost 3 weeks? But why was the bed upstairs still perfectly made as if someone hadn't slept in it?" he asked confusedly

"I'm staying here...in the living room," she paused, fidgeting with the Velcro of her cast, "I couldn't sleep there...also because I can't get that work up and going up and down the whole day is already pretty exhausting" she lied with a small chuckle.

Why lie? Because the truth was, she couldn't bring herself to sleep there because wherever she looked in the room she saw him,the bed smelled like his presence and just the room generally reminds her of him.

"Yeah..." he nodded, not sure what to say without making it awkward between them "Who were you talking on phone with?" he hesitantly asked

"A-a friend... I met in therapy" she answered, lowing her gaze on the floor, "he helped me a lot... throughout my sessions and I'm doing the same with him"

"That's good.... that's good" he offered a smile.

"Yeah..." she just smiled small at him before her phone rang and excused herself.

"Alex?" she stood up and went in the kitchen where Nick could still hear what she's saying.

"I'm on my way now,do you want me to pick up something? coffee maybe?"

"No I'm okay... I need to pack  and go back to Seattle anyway" she sighed

"Oh you have check up tomorrow with Link, right?"

"Ye-yeah, we'll see if my hand is having a progress" Meredith nodded, "also... Nick's here and I-i don't want to — I don't — I can't be in the same room with h-him... just yet"

Nick's heart broke at what he heard,he could hear the sadness in her voice and he couldn't do anything about it.
Because of what he just heard, he's slowly losing hope to get her back.

"He arrived last night and I don't know for how long he'll stay here but I want to get out of here as soon as possible, please" Meredith said,a small tear left her eyes, "I'm still healing and I don't w-want him to — It's just, everytime I see him,his words are playing over and over in my head and I can't even look at him straight in the eye" by now ber voice is getting loud and tears slowly uncontrollably streaming down her cheeks,as she wiped it with her casted hand.

"I need you to calm down Mer,okay. I'll be there tonight" Alex said before hanging up.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She turned around and saw him standing at the doorway, in shock.

"Is that... how you really feel?"
