Cora

"I knew there was something different about you" he rasps out looking at me and I just look at my intertwined fingers, Dimitri had just left the room

"You like him don't you"? He asks and I open my mouth before closing it back and nodding

"Okay" he says making me look at him in surprise

"O..okay"? I ask and he just shrugged

"What do you want me to say Cora? I can't tell you what to do" he says looking at me "but I want to ask you something, if I wasn't taken and you weren't pregnant with his child, do you think I would have had a chance"? He asks making me think long and hard.

It's a good question
And maybe, just maybe he really would have had a chance with me

"Maybe" I mutter and he nods
We both stay silent
"How long"? He asks making me look at him "how long has it been going on"?

"Four days" I whisper out

"Back in Moscow......" I cut him off because I know what he wants to ask

"No, I never had anything for him back then" I whisper out and he nods
"You're not mad"? I ask and he shrugs

"Why should I be? I'm heartbroken but I'm not mad, you don't choose the people you like, it just happens, so no I'm not mad you like my cousin" he says with a small smile

I send him one back, before placing my hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze

"I can tell he likes you too" he mutters

"How do you know that"? I ask

"I've known Dimitri all my life and I can tell when he cares about someone, and plus he's not really subtle when it comes to hiding his feelings" he says making me laugh

"So all that time I was in the basement, you guys were working together"? He asks and I nod with my lips in a tight line

"Yep"

I don't know how I'm going to face Ivan or what I'm going to tell him but I do know that I'm not letting go of Cora.

The things I feel for her won't let me.
They've been inside for over an hour, I wonder what they're talking about.

The door suddenly open and Cora comes out

"Hey" she whispers and I give her a nod

"Hey, you okay"? I ask taking her hand in mine and she nods

"He wants to see you" she tells me, I can't read her to know what they talked about, she squeezes my hand before giving me a smile

"Go, I'll be out here waiting" she whispers

I let go off her and walk towards the door before gently opening it, Ivan is sitting on the bed.

I walk in and stand in front of him, neither of us saying anything, I can feel tension in the air but I don't even know what to say.

"So you and Cora"? He asks and I just nod not finding the right words to use
"You like her"? He presses

"I do" I breathe out

"Was it before or after you touched her"? He asks swallowing hard

"After, and I didn't do it to hurt you, it just kind of happened" I mutter looking at him
