SOREN's jaw tightened as he watched in silence how his family had tried to stabilized his unconscious body and his children's life. His favorite room, the very room that Raffe filled with blue decorations simply because it was Soren's favorite color, was now pouring with unfiltered ena from his father, Elefa, and the twins Malin and Ali.

The room was spinning, as was his vision. But he held on.

He never heard Nikola's voice in his mind the day he said the curse was still there. But Soren understood one thing—his body now was an empty shell, and perhaps because of the curse his consciousness had been wandering like a ghost, unable to get back to his own body.

"Will you be okay, Your Majesty?" Soren heard Jadel asked Raffe.

"I don't know," Raffe said, and Goddess how Soren's heart constricted by the sheer tone of emptiness from his voice. "Lately, it feels like I'm waging an endless war, with both sides being me. Some nights I wake and everything hurts a little, and I keep wondering when will it end. Does this profound solitude ever come to an end?" A pause. "It felt like he left me, even if he's right here."

"Raffe..."

"Perhaps I felt too deeply, far beyond my capacity, to the point where, at times, I started to feel nothing. It's just endless emptiness. Like I'm being ripped apart, and dumped into a dark void."

"He will come back to you, Raf."

Soren watched in silence, forcing to steady his breathing as a lump in his throat was slowly forming. He was not usually quick to tears. He knew himself as strong-willed and independent. But the current him had been through so, so much already and perhaps knowing that Raffe was there by his side was the only thing that was keeping him from totally breaking down.

"I wish to be alone with him," Raffe said. Jadel left and Raffe was left there, cross-legged and blankly staring at the Wisteria tree.

Suddenly, he laughed—bitter and sad.
