How did you come up with 'faie'?
It's simply a word play on my part.
This one was actually the bitch when I started to write the drafts of this story. I was searching for a proper word to be used for Soren's brethren—proper but catchy and beautiful. I imagined them as 'nature's children', like elves in some movies or novels. But then I wanted them to possess ethereal beauty, too, like fairies, to classify them from austere humans and to simply make a nice impact. I want to draw out awe from my readers that way.
But (yes, there's a big fat 'but') I'm cringing to the idea of naming them 'elves' (which is a bit too cliché) and absolutely NO to 'fairies'. So after two cups of coffee and two naps (LOL) I decided to just combine the two terms.
FAIries + Elves = FAIE (hell yeah)
My miserable attempts resulted to: Aer, Fae, Fai, Evelion, Iolen (which I, of course, discarded XD)
