Seraphina

“I get that they’re friends, but does she have to hug him like that? Right in front of me?” I scoffed, taking a bite of stir fry as I glanced over at Luna, my furry companion.

“Isn’t that right, Luna? He’s always been mine from the very beginning,” I continued, speaking slowly as if trying to convince myself. I reached for a
can of beer and took a sip, the liquid offering a temporary solace.

I found myself talking to myself, confessing my feelings for Thad, even though he wasn’t there in my house with me.

Eventually, exhaustion overtook me, and I slipped into a deep slumber, still entangled in thoughts of him.

My room was cast in a dim, muted light as I lay asleep on my bed. A sudden sensation of soft, firm hands gliding up my thighs and under my shorts made me gasp softly.

Turning to my side, I was met with the sight of Thad, his eyes
filled with admiration.

“Thad, what are you doing here? How did you—” I began, but he hushed me with a gentle shush, leaning closer.

His lips met mine in a tender, unhurried kiss, sending a shiver down my spine.

I moaned softly against his lips, feeling his hands moving beneath my shorts.  He withdrew slightly, gazing down at me with desire in his eyes.

I couldn’t resist; I grasped his face and kissed him again, my heart racing as his hands continued their tantalizing movements.

However, a buzzing phone suddenly pierced the moment, causing me to pull
away, my thoughts jolted back to reality.

I shot up in bed, gasping, and quickly reached for my buzzing phone alarm.

As I silenced it, I glanced to my side, only to find an empty space next to me.

Reality settled in, and I realized with a gasp that I had just had a vivid and racy dream about Thad.

I couldn’t help but groan, bringing my hands to my face in embarrassment.

“Why on earth did I have such a silly dream about him?” I muttered to myself, releasing my grip on my face.

“Is it because I was thinking about him all through last night?” I pondered aloud, my thoughts wandering as I tried to make sense of the unexpected dream.

“Oh no, Sera,” I groaned, falling back onto the bed, my frustration and disappointment with myself evident.

The dream had left me feeling confused and flustered, and I couldn’t help but wish I could erase it from my mind.

Thad

I glanced at my wristwatch for what felt like the umpteenth time, silently hoping that the seemingly endless meeting would come to an end soon.

The man at the front of the room finally concluded his presentation, bringing the slides to a halt.

I nodded, eager to make my exit, and stood up abruptly from my chair, causing the heads of the board of directors to turn their attention toward me.

I was just about to turn and leave when Mark’s voice caught me off guard.

“Sir,” he began, making me turn to face him.

“Yes?”

“You haven’t provided a review of his presentation,” he reminded me, a realization dawning on me that I had nearly overlooked this task.

“Oh… uhm. That was an excellent presentation,” I managed to say, casting a brief glance at the presenter.

Without further delay, I hurriedly left the room, with Mark trailing behind me, clearly puzzled by my abrupt departure.
