I finally got the much-needed sleep as I dreamt under the waves as my mind was set adrift. A voice softly sang to me in a sweet angelic tone:

The words were harmonious as it made me drift off in a deep slumber as I slept comfortably, forgetting my troubles as the ocean always washes the stress away

The words were harmonious as it made me drift off in a deep slumber as I slept comfortably, forgetting my troubles as the ocean always washes the stress away. The mermaid that constantly haunts my dreams gently takes me in her arms as she softly sings like the tide:

My eyes flutter as I wake and look at the ceiling, wondering if my adventure last night has caught up with me, or was it all but a dream as I saw a plastered ceiling and smile

'I am home!'

My body ached as I lifted myself out of bed. I was sort of surprised that my mom and dad had not discovered the foreign car parked in our driveway.

Walking into the kitchen, it was clean and tidy as I opened the fridge and found only a few jars of jam, tarragon vinegar, A1 sauce, a few cans of A&W and a box of baking soda. It was an odd sight as I closed the refrigerator and walked outside as a light steady rain fell upon my cheeks.

Opening the garage, the cars were still parked inside. I looked at the largest garage and walked on over and opened the weathered door and found that the RV was missing.

I was baffled, I did not know that they had actually left! But with no child at home, I guess they finally have time to themselves.

Walking inside, I look at the calendar on the wall as it reads:

Rue At College + Clam Digging.

That was the answer, they were hunting clams once more. There was an eerie sensation as the calendar also added:

Full Moon Tonight + King Tide.

It was just like 14 years ago!

...it was the first time that my Tutu had taught me how to dig for clams after my family had settled here in Copalis, after leaving Hawaii. The early morning, it was a full moon! The tides were high, and the surf was rough...
