Chapter 15

I closed my locker as I walked towards the bathroom, a sly grin on my face. I spent a little bit of extra time on my hair and makeup this morning, that’s the reason why I’m an hour late. My dirty blonde hair was wavy and gave off the windblown look, but it was neat and I was satisfied with it. I grabbed two strands of it and braided them to the back and then pushed all of my hair over my shoulder. I already did my nails previously; I just had to touch them up. They were cosmic.

My usual light lip gloss turned into a light mascara, lip gloss, and eyeliner. Eye shadow made me look like a clown so I quickly removed it. My clothes were also slightly different. Instead of wearing looser black jeans, I grabbed the tightest pair of black jeans in my closet and I put them on. It took about a half an hour but it works. I don’t have a thigh gap, but it was a one day thing.

I also wore a shirt that Jessie forced me to buy one day as a dare and knowing me, one who can’t deny a dare (as long as it’s not perverted). It’s a loose, black tank top with a cross in the middle of it. The cross has the popular galaxy design on it and it’s not my style. If you haven’t noticed, my style is oversized baggy sweatshirts and dark colored loose jeans. I’m not one for super skinny jeans and tank tops.

In an attempt to make the outfit… mine, I put on my favorite necklace and studded bracelets. I also wore cosmic converse that I fell in love with the moment I saw them. The color was magnificent and I automatically bought them. My parents didn’t approve much but I didn’t care.

I came to school late today and I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I’ve always wanted to skip school and this is probably the closest I’ll ever get to doing it. If my parents found out about this, they’d stab me repeatedly in the face with the brake pedal in my car. They’d make sure I’d speed to school right on time from now on.

The first class I was going to attend was located in the computer lab and it was for research for any upcoming projects. I had a few projects due. I already missed my first period class, which was 45 minutes long. My bathroom trip also took some time. This class was an hour and a half and I really appreciated it. It helped with my new fashion, too. Less people see me so more people will be shocked when they see what happens to Ethan.

And Jessie always told me that whenever I rebel and break some rules, that she’ll be my partner in crime. So I took her up on that offer and told her to get a lift from her mother to school today. I ignored her questions and told her that it was serious matter and she said nothing of it.

And just to make sure that Ethan was telling the truth and there wasn’t another Fiona in our school, I searched Adrian’s Facebook friends list since he had every single girl, aside from me (he had Jessie up there, too). I had to sit away from the window just in case he saw me stalking his page and he’d laugh at me for being creepy. It’s not my fault that he doesn’t put his page on private. There was no other Fiona’s. I also couldn’t help but peek at his pictures. He had so much shirtless selfies up there that I cringed. But I couldn’t help but notice that he did have an 8 pack and he looked good in a pair of swim trunks. I wonder if I could thin out by doing football... no, I'd die the moment my shoes hit the field.

Approaching the lunch room, I saw Jessie sitting at our table. I walked over and sat down across from her. Her eyes widened when she saw me. My appearance scared her and I can only guess what was going through her head.

“What happened to you? What happened to never wearing that shirt in public? And those jeans are tighter than mine!” She exclaimed, pointing at me quickly.

“Listen; just be prepared to walk out of the cafeteria.” I stated, watching as people quickly made their way up to the lunch line. She looked at me as if I was crazy. I felt another pair of eyes on me but I brushed away the paranoia.

“Are we having lunch in the garden? Or do you mean just get up and leave school?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. The former was hopeful, it almost sounded as if she was trying to convince me to postpone whatever plan I’d formed to another day. I nodded at the latter and her eyes widened but she nodded, grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder.

I had to build up my courage to be able to do this. My hands were shaking and I quickly stood up when everyone arrived at their tables. It wasn’t unusual for people to stand up during lunch; usually they’d go and purchase another Jell-O or soda. But I was walking towards the popular table, where Ethan sat. He was laughing with his friends but when he saw me, he attempted to smile. I now had everyone’s attention and I saw right through Ethan’s smile. It slowly faded away.

“Hey, Ethan.” I said, attempting to keep my voice leveled. He furrowed his eyebrows. He was sitting at the corner of the rectangular table and his foot was within arm’s reach.

“Hey, Fiona. How are you?” He asked, his smile slowly reaching his face again.

"I’m really looking forward to later on.” I said with a flirty smile on my face. His eyes widened. His eyes grazed over my attire before his eyes reached mine again. He reached a hand out to grab mine and I pretended to reach for it as well.

“Really?” He asked, his hand still extending outwards. He was still sitting down, too. I snorted and shook my head, reaching out for his food and ignoring his hand. Without any warning, I slammed it down onto his head, making sure to smear it onto his face. Sauce dripped down his hair and I couldn’t help but smirk. I heard people laughing, even the people at his table. But I wasn’t finished just yet. I grabbed the milk that he purchased and emptied it on him, pouring it over his shirt and pants. I dropped the pink, watery Jell-O onto his white shoes.

He was wiping away at his mouth, so he could breathe and I turned around and saw Jessie waving her hand at me, as if telling me to hurry up. I’m guessing teachers were coming. She had her other hand over her mouth in an attempt to contain her laughter. I quickly raced over to her and we left the cafeteria where Ethan was stained in lasagna, a cup cake, and Jell-O. He was also soaked in milk, all thanks to me.

When we arrived at the car, I dived into the driver’s side as Jessie slipped into the passenger’s seat. I quickly buckled up and tore out of the parking lot, laughing loudly along with Jessie. We arrived at my house and my Aunt was sitting on the couch, waiting for an explanation on how my plan went. So that’s what I did. Jessie and I spent an hour laughing with my Aunt as she shook her head amusedly and disapprovingly. It was fun. And can I say? I like rebelling.
