ROMAN GLANCED down at his phone. It was a text from Verona.

can u buy me portillos?? it's 8. swim practice should be over.

ugh but I don't want to buy you portillos. go buy it yourself

I don't want to go out. My car is in the shop.

Ugh. Fine, if you pay for my shake too.

Ugh. fine. let me know when you're outside.

I want the usual.

k.
their shake machine broke.

ok I'll only get cheese fries then thanks.

I'm outside.

Roman unlocked his door as he watched Verona fly from her house.

"Hey." She grinned, sliding into the passenger seat, "Thanks."

Roman held out her cheese fries for her.

"How much do I owe you?" She asked, cheeks still flushed from dashing into his car.

"Nothing. It's fine." Roman told her, dipping his own fry into cheese.

"But I said I would pay you back."

"My treat." Roman bite into his fry.

"Oh. Thanks." Verona said before digging into her own fries.

Roman glanced at her, the side of his mouth quirking up.

   "Nice pajamas." He commented.

Verona glanced down at her own apparel before saying, a bit flustered, "Yeah, sorry, it's just really comfortable."

She was wearing one of Roman's old swim team sweatshirts that she must have stolen from him, probably when they were dating. Roman wouldn't be surprised if she took it after they broke up though. Verona probably would do something like that.

"Does it still smell like me?" Roman teased.

"No." Verona replied, rolling her eyes, "You smell like shit. It smells like me now. Amazing."

"I can't believe you stole my sweatshirt."

"Shut up." Verona said, "It's really comfortable."

   "Ugh. Whatever."

There was a pause as both of them munched on their fries.

"Do you want it back?" She murmured with her mouth full.

   "Huh?"

"Your sweatshirt. Do you want it back?"

Roman paused, thinking for a moment.

"Nah. You can keep it." He said, "It probably smells like you now."
