"HEY DARRY I THINK PONYBOYS GETTING JUMPED" two-bit yells at darry and with that darry runs out the door faster than I've ever seen him run I was running right behind him with Johnny following behind two-bit and Steve and soda where where already there chasing those no good punks out our territory darry went to pony who was on the floor i turned to see Johnny "hey stay here" then I left to ponyboy I was scared Johnny might get hurt so I told him to stay behind

I crashed down right next to ponyboy
"Are you all right, Ponyboy?"darry asked ponyboy He was shaking him, I was running my hands trow his hair "I'm okay. Quit shaking me, Darry, I'm okay." He stopped instantly.
"I'm sorry."He wasn't really. Darry isn't ever sorry for anything he does.i looked up to see steve, sodapop, and two-bit where now joined my the one and only Dallas Winston I just stared at Dallas

What the devil is he doing here shouldn't he be in the cooler did he busy out of jail I certain the judge said 90 days

Darry stood up and I was still beside my little brother "They didn't hurt you too bad, did they?" I asked ponyboy turning back to him but my mind still on Dallas "I'm okay." Sodapop came loping back. I looked up to see two-bit Steve and now Dallas walking back to the house I stared at Dallas he was perfect everything about him was I kept staring till our eyes locked I didn't turn and neither did he our eyes where locked till I heard a sob coming from ponyboy .Soda just put his hand on ponyboys shoulder. "Easy, Ponyboy. They ain't gonna hurt
you no more." "I know," I ran my hand through ponyboys hair then stood up relocking eyes with Dallas and giving him a small grin then turning away his eyes stayed on me I looked up at him a few more time and yes they were still on me

"I'm just a little spooked, that's all." He continued "You're an okay kid, Pony." "You're crazy, Soda, out of your mind." they both got along better than peanut butter and jam "You're both nuts." Darry butted in, Soda merely cocked one eyebrow, a trick he'd picked up from Two-Bit. "It seems to run in this family." Darry stared at him for a second, then cracked a grin. Sodapop isn't afraid of him like everyone else and enjoys teasing him. I'd just as soon tease a full-grown grizzly; but for some reason, Darry seems to like being teased by Soda smiled both of them stood up and walked back to the house where the rest of the gang was at

My eyes where on Dallas once again and his eyes where on me "The kid's okay?" Dallas asked I turned away not wanting to answer his question
"I'm okay." Ponyboy thankfully responded "I didn't know you were out of the cooler yet, Dally."he asked "yeah I was thinking that too" I added finally getting some words out
"Good behavior. Got off early." Dallas lit a cigarette and handed it to Johnny. Everyone sat down to have a smoke and relax. A smoke always lessens the tension. Ponyboys color was back and he wasn't shaking anymore

"Nice-lookin' bruise you got there, kid." I turned to ponyboy as he touched his cheek gingerly. "Really?"
Two-Bit nodded sagely. "Nice cut, too. Makes you look tough." I looked closely at ponyboy finally realizing he got beat quite good nothing deadly but good Steve flicked his ashes at ponyboy which got me quite pissed Steve never liked ponyboy and ponyboy didn't like him he told me himself . "What were you doin', walkin' by your lonesome?"
"I was comin' home from the movies. I didn't think..."
"You don't ever think," Darry broke in, "not at home or anywhere when it counts. You must think at school, with all those good grades you bring home, and you've always got your nose in a book, but do you ever use your head for common sense? No sirree, bub. And if you did have to go by yourself, you should have carried a blade."
Ponyboy just stared at the hole in the toe of his tennis shoe.

Soda was glaring at him. "Leave my kid brother alone, you hear? It ain't his fault he likes to go to the movies, and it ain't his fault the Socs like to jump us, and if he had been carrying a blade it would have been a good excuse to cut him to ribbons."
"Sodas right you know" I told darry supporting sodapop's statement
"When I want my kid brothers to tell me what to do with my other kid brother, I'll ask you-- kid brothers." He looked at both me and soda But he laid off pony. He always does when
Sodapop tells him to. Most of the time."Next time get one of us to go with you, Ponyboy," Two-Bit said. "Any of us will"

"Speakin' of movies"--- Dally yawned, flipping away his cigarette butt--- "I'm walkin' over to the Nightly Double tomorrow night. Anybody want to come and hunt some action?" I looked up at him considering going but I didn't want anyone to think anything,
Steve shook his head. "Me and Soda are pickin' up Evie and Sandy for the game." Darry sighed, just like I knew he would. Darry never had time to do anything anymore. "I'm working tomorrow night." Dally looked at me for a split second then turned "How about y'all? Two-Bit? Johnnycake, you and Pony wanta come.............Mary?" He said locking eyes

"Yeah, since it ain't a school night." Darry was real good about letting me go places on the weekends. On school nights I could hardly leave the house."I was plannin' on getting boozed up tomorrow night," Two-Bit said. "If I don't, I'll walk over and find y'all." That was it I'll go with two-bit I'll still see Dallas but just a small while "hey two-bit what if I join you?" I asked him I rarely drink but not alot there has only been one time where I've drank so much I passed out on the front yard

I looked up at Dallas who was staring at me there was this one time I remembered I was at but merrells place because they were throwing a massive party for some reason I don't remember and I was there and since I'm a Curtis everyone want to have problems with me,

I know how to fight and everything and I wouldn't ever back down from one, but the Shepards sister Angelica she's always looking for a good fight and a guy to hook up with, on one from the gang has ever slept with her because she's Tim's younger sister so they all stay away but this one night she was flirting with Dallas and I'm head over heals for dally and she kept flirting and flirting so I told her "Angelica he don't want you why don't you just fuck off" I told her I was kinda pissed, I remember that night Dallas was always around me like he was protecting me or something whatever so she comes and says "shut your mouth Curtis" and shoved me agenst the wall I never back down from a fight so I push her back we where both about to get in a huge fight when Dallas comes and puts me over his shoulder and cares me out of bucks place once we were outside he puts me down and keeps walking I followed behind him "what the hell was that dallas?" I asked him "she wanted a fight so I was gonna give it to her" he ignored my questions "where are we even going?"
"To your home" he finally responded "wow you can answer that questions but not the others" I told him he stopped and turned to look at me he's eyes were dark and deadly he was mad till our eyes connected then they cooled off "because I don't want you fighting and I like you to much to let you change" that shut me right up the rest of the way home was silent

Steve was looking at Dally's hand. His ring, which he had rolled a drunk senior to get, was back on his finger. "You break up with Sylvia again?"
"Yeah, and this time it's for good. That little broad was two-timin' me again while I was in jail." I looked up faster than ever so fast that my neck hurt

We locked eyes a small smirk appeared on my face and i know he saw it because he gave me a small grin then looked down at his feet that was always so cute when he did that

The rest of the time it was just more smoking and talking about girls and so and whatever we could think off the gang soon left when sodapop, and ponyboy went inside the whole gang said bye and left there separate ways
