Let's just all take a second to look at the marvelous name of this chapter.

But anywho back to the rant on hand.

Imagine...going about your daily buisness through Wattpad. Reading some stories, messaging some followers than BOOM! You come acorss a sesquipedalian.

But what is a ses-qui-pe-da-blah-blah-blahian you may ask. Why dear reader I'll show you what it means through example.

*Insert Witty Story Title*

Bestirring from my torpor dormancy, I dehiscent my prostrated orbs consequent to my vociferous alarm clock which tintinnabulated throughout my room.

Here's what they meant to say. when you translate that into English

Waking up, I opened my eyes looking at my alarm clock that blarred in my room.

Something along the lines of that

Sesquipedalian

Likes: Theasuars and Dictionaries

Dislikes: Words that have no synonymn. i.e the word "alarm clock"

In fact, all those attempts to look smart tend to backfire and make people think you're even dumber. People want to be acknowledged for being smart. They may not be able to find validation any other way. They think they sound intelligent when in fact they come off as trying too hard and obnoxious. Better yet, It's probably a case where the general awkwardness of the larger words is what make people feel that the writer is trying too hard.

Hmm...?

People who crave attention

People who blatantly lie to 'appear' cooler

People who brag

People who 'fancy pant'

Now. What do all of these people have in common?

A) Low Self-Esteem

B) Lack of Self Validation

C) Deprived Confidence

D) All of the above

Sometimes I get you want to increase your vocabulary and become a better writer.

Maybe when you write you don't want to use the word "said" a billion times so you go grab a thesaurus.

But trust me. You can tell a difference between people who can correctly use a 'bigger' word than those who just toss 'em in their story to make them seem like they're hot shit. (Chapter 6)
