slip

as we laughed about the silliest things,
as i sat beside you and
you moved a little bit closer to me
so much that i could feel your warmth,
when you placed your warm hand on top of my shoulder,
i felt this weird sensation.
and as i laughed,
my hand felt your fingers,
warm and thin,
we almost held hands
but both quickly slipped away.
maybe it's an indication
that we are just as warm,
maybe even more,
but we'll slip out of each other's reach,
when things become a little too much.
