Chapter 29 | Demons

Pauline Cynthia Zunino’s Point of View

“Should I wear this? Hindi ba parang masyadong revealing?” Umikot pa ako at tinignan ang sarili sa salamin.

Warner gave off a low chuckle as his eyes danced with amusement. “Everything you wear looks good on you. You can wear anything you like.”

I frowned before I turned to him and gave him a glare. “I won’t wear something revealing if I’m going to meet your father.” I rolled my eyes.

Most humans are like that, they judge someone based on the way they dress and look. Bleanrithians are not like that. Kung ganoon man ay iilan lang.

Tinawanan na naman ako ni Warner. “You’ll just meet him at our house; I want that meeting to be personal.”

“Kahit na,” I whined and threw another dress unto my bed, making a pile of rejected dresses, next to him.

Nandito kaming dalawa sa room ko; he was sitting at the edge of my bed. Today was supposed to be a work day but since Warner is a lazy boss lately, he insisted that we should just spend the rest of the day preparing for the party instead of working.

Then you’ll leave the next day, stupid Pau.

Cyran warned me about Warner’s growing suspicions when we went home after the triple date. He told me that if I keep being sad and distracted whenever Warner’s around, then the possibility of him finding out that we’re leaving soon will increase.

I just wanted to enjoy when I’m with him.

“Maybe we should just postpone this meeting with my father…” I heard him whispered.

Napatigil ako sa paghahanap ng dress at napalingon sakanya; my forehead knotted. “Why?” I asked, feeling nervous; multiple thoughts and ideas coming into my head at the same time.

Warner already has a dark and serious aura, but if you combine it with his dark and hooded eyes… he looks different.

He shook his head slowly while staring at me intently. “It’s nothing.”

I squint my eyes at him. “What is it?”

Why do I feel like he’s not telling me something…

Tinitigan niya ako ng ilang segundo bago marahang umiling. “I think I found my adoptive father’s daughter.”

“Really? Hindi ba good news ‘yan? Did you talk to his daughter, yet?” I asked, curiously.

“I don’t want to tell her, yet,” he shortly replied.

My forehead knotted. “Why?”

“Their stories don’t fit.” He stared at my eyes directly. “I’m still not sure if it’s really his daughter that’s why I still have the courage to continue this.”
