Shubman's POV-

I took a deep breath, before tapping on the call button. Man, I'm so nervous.

"Hi Shubman." Sara spoke.

"Hi Sara." I smiled to myself.

"Anything important? It's actually 11p.m. in India." She told me.

"Uh.. yeah."

"Oh okay, go on."

"Look, Sara. I don't want to sound desperate or something, but I need my answers." I said.

When she didn't answer, I spoke again.

"You know I like you, Sara. But, I don't know whether you like me or not." I started.

"Don't you think it's about time for me to know your feelings too?" I questioned.

"Yeah." She sighed.

"Then please let me know." I begged her.

She breathed out, before saying, "Shubman, I'm sorry."

I stayed silent.

What does she mean by sorry?

"I-..." She sighed.

"You're just a friend to me. I'm sorry, I should've told this to you long back-"

"But you didn't." I pointed out.

"I didn't want to break your heart-"

"But that's what you did now."

"I'm sorry, Shubman. I just didn't know how to tell it to you. I wasn't playing you or anything, it's just that I was myself so confused." She explained.

"I thought I liked you, but somewhere in my heart, I also knew I didn't like you more than a friend. I just needed some time to figure it out." She justified herself.

"I really am sorry, Shubman."

I felt a tear slid down my right eye.

"It's fine." I sighed.

"I'm just glad you didn't lead me on anymore, and told me what you really felt." I stated.

"I never meant to lead you on, Shubman." Sara said.

"It's okay, Sara."

"I'm sorry." She apologised again.

"It's fine, chill. I.. uh.. got to go. I'll call you some other time, yeah? Bye."

"Bye, Shubman." She said.

I hung up, before keeping my phone on the bed, beside me. Resting my head on my palms, I breathed in and out. The only thing I could think about was how I spent a year liking her, thinking she felt the same for me.

I've never felt so stupid.

I ran my fingers through my hair, before standing up and walking out of my suite. The only thing that can calm me down now is coffee.

I entered a random cafè on my floor, and ordered a cold coffee for myself. After I paid, I was handed over my coffee.

"Thank you." I smiled at the man, before turning around.

Seeing that I've been too clumsy lately, it didn't surprise me when I dropped my cold coffee over someone.

Meher's POV-

I'm never wearing a white t-shirt near Shubman Gill ever again.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that he dropped coffee over me. He's been dropping things over me since yesterday.

"Shit." He cussed under his breath, before looking at me.

"Meher?"

"I'm so sorry, dude." He apologised.

"I'm just thankful this isn't see-through." I laughed.

He chuckled at me, before handing me over some tissues from the counter.

"It's okay, I'll do it." I smiled at him, while he helped me clean the coffee he spilled over me.

"This is the least I can do, Meher." He smiled back.

But it wasn't a genuine one. Shubman looked upset about something. The look he had on his face was a look I was too familiar with.

"Kat gaya tera?" I absent-mindedly asked him, but as soon as I realised what I'd asked, I slapped my hand on my mouth.

"Sorry." I said, chuckling nervously.

Shubman chuckled, before saying, "Haa, kat gaya."

"Uhm.. I know I'm the last person you would want to speak about this to, but I can help if you want. Speaking to a stranger helps." I shrugged.

"But, you're not a stranger, Meher." He chuckled.

"Well, yes, but we're not exactly friends too. And, if you're worried that I would spill it out to people, then you needn't worry about it. You can trust me." I smiled at him.

"How about you change your t-shirt and come back here, while I keep two coffees ready for us, and then we could talk about it?" He offered.

"Sounds good." I smiled and nodded at him.

"Give me two minutes." I stated, before walking towards my room. But I stopped on my way, and turned back, before walking to where Shubman was standing.

I softly patted his shoulder due to which he turned around.

"I only drink hot coffee, not cold." I told him.

"Okay ma'am." He chuckled.

"Will be back in two minutes." I smiled, before quickly jogging towards my room.
