We both began to walk side by side into the house, following everyone else with Carter's hands shoved back into his pockets.

"I know I don't say it a lot but I love you Sky. You're my sister and I'd hate anything to happen to you. I've always got your back okay?" he said seriously, looking down at me.

"Same here." I nodded.

I looked at him silently for a second before turning around to face my parents, who were a few feet away from us consumed in their own conversation.

"Ew, Mom, Dad, did you hear that? Carter just said he loves me. Isn't that so gross?" I joked, purely just to spite him, making the three of us laugh.

"Oh shut up, you're the most annoying person ever. You just have to ruin the moment don't you?" he sighed, shaking his head at me with an annoyed smile.

"Sorry, you were getting too serious for me and it was weird." I laughed. "But I love you too Carter." I said, hugging him awkwardly from the side on purpose to annoy him more as he shoved me away from him.

"Go away."

"That's better. You're back to your normal grumpy self!" I laughed, following him through the front door.

Once we'd all made it back inside, I spoke to everyone else, reassuring them that I was fine.

Lucas had rushed over to me straight after I'd spoken to Carter and hugged me, telling me how relieved he was that I was okay. I could see that everyone was worried about me.

Ryan was apologetic and Jamie just gave me a simple hug, making sure that I was okay like my brother.

"I'm so glad you're okay." Leanne said as we all stood around in the living room.

"Me too." Lucas added.

"Same." Ryan said. "But ehm, about the cute girls at the club, did you...?"

"Ryan!" everyone exclaimed.

"Okay, okay, I get it, it's too soon." he said, holding his hands up in defence as Hailey rolled her eyes.

However, I had other things on my mind.

"Carter, Sky, can we speak to you please?" My mom said, with a distressed look on her face.

Carter and I looked at one another in concern before following our parents into their room.

We sat on their large bed as they stood in front of us with worried expressions on their faces.

"What's going on?" Carter asked.

"Well, your mother and I have been keeping something from you and we think that it's time you knew what was going on." he began, making my heart begin to race. "It's to do with what happened to Sky tonight."

"What do you mean? Was it not just an accident?" I asked. "There are some dangerous people around."

"Yeah, Sky was just at the wrong place at the wrong time...right?" Carter said, looking to mom for reassurance.

"No, not exactly." She said with a solemn look on her face. "It's about what we do for work."

"What do you mean? You own a business, what does that have to do with any of this?" Carter said, beginning to freak out a little.

"Well it is a kind of business..." Mom said, before dad cut her off.

"We're in the mafia." he blurted out.

"Reed!" Mom said, turning to my him in frustration as she slapped him on the arm.

"What? You've got to rip it off like a band-aid." he shrugged, holding his hands up in defence.
