Part nine

It was the day of the date from Maya and Carina. They were both so excited but nervous at the same time.

In the past week they texted each other a lot. A lot of flirting,  but most of the time just casual conversations about work or getting to know each other.

Carina was working till 6 pm at the hospital, it was busy today. She received a message from Maya and a smile formed on her face again

I'll pick you up at 6 pm at the hospital. Is that alright?

Si, Bella. Im done at six. So that's fine! Can't wait to see you.

Carina blushed at the flirty comment she made.

"Oeh dr Deluca... still sexting with you're mystery women?" Teddy said laughing standing next to Amelia who was also laughing

"No-NO. Stop that. We're not sexting. We are going on a date tonight" Carina said smiling from ear to ear

Teddy and Amelia looked at each other smiling and then back to Carina. "You like her" Amelia said with a smirk on her face "yeaaah you are as red as a tomato, look at you" Teddy said pointing and then putting a candy in her mouth. They both burst out of laughing. 

"I- Si- Stop-stop it you two" Carina said stuttering and laughing afterwards

Maya was happy with the text from Carina. "She can't wait to see me" Maya said to herself.

The last week on the station was like old times. She was eating with everyone again and had just small talk with everyone. She loved that.

Only her best friend Andy still didn't speak to her. She still blamed Maya and now everyone for not being captain at the moment. Maya just let it go, she did the best she could to have her best friend back.

It was now 4.30 pm and the alarm from the station went off.

*aid car 19- car 19- 2 fire alarm*

"Okay team. Let's go. Last call from the long shift. We got this" Maya said to her team who were ready for it

When they arrived Maya put everyone to work to get everyone and the fire out. Again Andy hesitated Mayas decisions.

"Herrera, do what you are told to do" Vic said to her

"I'm going in. There is a little girl out there I think" Andy said and ran in to the burning building.

"ANDY STOP" everyone screamed but it was no use

"God dammit Herrera, what are you doing" Maya said through her intercom

"I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, helping people and putting out the fire. I have a 4 year old kid and she is on her way and coming out now" Andy said back at her team and everyone was looking at Maya who was furious

"Get out now Herrera. Just fucking listen to me for once" Maya screamed angry to her in the porto

"Miller, get the kid by the door and bring some oxygen for Herrera" Maya said

The kid walked out and Miller got her and walked her back to the aid car.

"Herrera where are you?" Maya asked

No response.

"Herrera reply, where are you" Maya said again now louder "HERRERA" "ANDY"

"Fuck" Maya said to herself and everyone was looking at her worried

Maya didn't think twice and also ran inside the burning building without any gear on except a mask.

"Everyone, get ready with 2 oxygen masks and a-" Maya said when something fell on her arm

"Maya, are you okay?" Vic screamed

"Ahhh fuck" she screamed now laying on the floor with burning piece of wood on her arm.
She quickly get it off her arm and stood up.

"I'm okay, injured but I can continue" Maya said with pain in her voice

"Herrera where are you" Maya screamed through the building."HERE" she heard behind the kitchen island and saw a foot of Andy on the ground. She ran towards her when something fell on her head. Again she fell on the ground and felt dizzy for a moment. She touched the painful spot and saw that there was a lot of blood coming from her wound.

"Andy I'm coming for you, are you okay?"  Maya said but realized that the way was blocked.

"I'm okay, my intercom didn't work anymore so I couldn't tell you that I was alright. Are you okay?" Andy asked

"Possible a broken shoulder with second degree burns on my arm and a head wound, I'm feeling dizzy an-and" Maya said but felt light headed again and now was on her knees so she could help herself

"Maya stay with me, you are going to be alright" Andy screamed "I can't believe you came and rescue me after all that I put you through" se said with a broken voice after

"Of course I came to rescue you, you're still my best friend you know" she said after a while now able to stand up again.

"Okay here is what we are going to do, I'll get this piece of wood with this iron thing. I probably can hold it for 5 seconds so you have to be fast" Maya said pointing at the piece of wood and then to the iron thing.

"One, two.. three.. aaaaghhh" Maya screamed because of her broken shoulder but Andy jumped and made it through. Maya was in so much pain she almost passed out.

"Maya stay with me, please" Andy said worried but helping Maya get to the door of the house

"We're coming out now, get a stretcher and oxygen. We have to go to the hospital ASAP." Andy said to everyone through Maya's intercom
