chapter nineteen

chapter nineteen - october, 1984

"It's like, like I'm stuck."

Alex, Mike and Will were sitting in Mike's basement on the couch with Will in between the other two. Her wig was on the floor, leaving her with her blonde hair slightly messy and her makeup was removed, leaving her face natural. 

"Like, like, stuck in the Upside Down?" Mike asked as Alex looked at Will. He sighed and shook his head.

"No," he said. He hesitated as he tried to think of an example, "you know on a View-Master, when it gets, like. . . ."

"Caught between two slides?" Alex asked. 

"Yeah. Like that," Will said nodding, "like one side's our world, and the other, the other slide is the Upside Down. And, and there was this noise coming from everywhere. And then I saw something."

"The Demogorgon?" Mike asked as Alex tensed up.

"No," Will said as Alex felt relieved, "It was like this huge shadow in the sky. Only, it was alive. And it was coming for me."

"Is it real?" Alex asked, looking at him, "or is like what I can do?"

"I don't know," Will said as Alex nodded, "just. . . . just please don't tell the others, okay? They won't understand." The other two nodded before Mike turned to Alex.

"What can you do?" He asked. Alex looked at him then at her hands.

"I can rewatch things," she said as she wiggled her fingertips and the energy ball appeared, "anything that's happen in my life, I can see it. It looks real and sometimes I forget it's a memory. I keep replaying the same one over again."

"Can you show us?" Will asked. Alex nodded and flicked her wrist up.

In front of them were Dustin, Lucas and Mike screaming from the Demogorgon last year. It looked as if it was being re-enacted in front of them, the only slight difference was is that there was a red glow around them.

While the boys were trying to get Lucas to hurry up, Alex slowly climbed off the table and limped to Eleven.

"Sister," Eleven said as the monster screeched at them.

"Take it out now!" Dustin was yelling.

"Get the rocks, get the rocks, get the rocks!"

"Getting the rocks!"

"El," Alex said as she held her hand.

"Give me one."

"Come on!"

"Go! Go! Kill it! Kill it!"

"Please, look after Mike," Alex said, "please."

"S-Sister?" Eleven asked. "What?"

"Fire! Fire!" The monster screeched louder as Alex looked at the monster then back at Eleven.

"Give me another one."

"Kill it! Bastard!"

"Kill it! Go, go, go, go!"

"Please," Alex begged, "keep him happy. Take care of him okay?"

Mike looked over at Alex who was staring at the scene playing out in front of her.

"No," Eleven said, shaking her head as she knew what Alex was going to do. "No."

"Kill it now!"
