Chapter 32:
Direct confession

"This is the letter she wrote for your Mom before she passed away." ng ilahad niya ang maliit na papel sa kamay ko.

To my dearest Celestine,

From the moment I saw you, I fell.
From the moment I've known you, I fell harder.

Feelings are just a fleeting moment between two people but love is choosing someone everyday. I tried to fight for us but in the end I chose to walk away.

Our love is a sin that we committed everyday and I'm sorry for not even giving you the chance of coming out together because everything is new to me.

Destiny must have favoured us too much for giving a lot of chances that I keep throwing it away. It's amazing how we met through our own children. And they might not understand our love when they both grow up but I hope they'd feel how pure our feelings are.

It is beyond friendship and it is deeper than love. It's us.

We may not have ended up together. In deepest within me, you are still the love of my life. Thank you for all the memories I'll carry in the deepest of my heart forever.

I will always love you forever, my Celestine.

-Your Kristine

"Their love for each other was pure and full of respect." ibinalik ko sakanya ang letter at tumayo na. I don't know what to feel.

Really. I don't know what I should do maybe I won't overreact like this If I don't love you enough for me to get hurt and feel betrayed.

"You know it frustrates me seeing both of you not talking to each other." sabat sa akin ni Jasmine habang pinapanood ko si Aaliyah naglalakad sa labas.

It's been weeks of not talking to them. It's not that I'm angry at them or what but I'm glad that they're all giving me space and time to process everything.

"Stop, Jasmine. You're too invested in them." sabi ni Isla at umakbay sa amin dalawa. "It's because I've watched their friendship grow kahit buong high school lang namin iyon. Nakita ko parin silang dalawa. Almost six years."

"Anong plano sa graduation ball natin?" pag iba ng topic ni Sam. She's sitting at our bookshelves in our room while looking at us and watching the view outside.

"Speaking of, Miss President." nakangising sabi ni Jasmine at tinanggal niya ang pagkakaakbay sakanya. "Working on it, Miss Vice President slash busy dancing with the cheer dance squad." ganti naman ni Isla sakanya.

"Why don't we go unwind like out of the city for a while after the ball?" suggestion naman ni Sam at humawak sa ulo ko. "Let's go get some fresh air, shall we?" I know they're all worried about me and I can feel how they're all always tiptoeing around me.

Maybe I really need to go get some fresh air for a bit. To relax and to stop thinking about them even just for a day.

"Okay lang naman." sagot ko sakanila. "Kahit kasama si Aaliyah?" Jasmine quickly asked. "We're both fine, Jasmine. We're not fighting. At kahit idala mo pa buong section natin, wala akong pake." biro ko sakanya na ikinairap niya.

Napatingin ako kay Isla ng mapansin ang tingin niya. I raised my eyebrows at her and she just shook off her head.

"Sino palang mga date niyo?" tanong ulit ni Jasmine ng makatinginan kami ni Sam. "I'm going solo. We're not allowed to bring someone from another school." she said raising her hand.
