Chapter 16

- Leighton Murray -

Before your lips could touch, the door opened. "We are back!" You heard Jennie yell. You both quickly pulled away, trying to act relaxed as Jennie and Charlie entered the room. The moment was lost, but the tension lingered between you two.

You exchanged a knowing look, silently promising to pick up where you left off later. As the group settled in and chatted, you couldn't help but steal glances at her, feeling the electricity between you even in the midst of the group. The interruption had only fuelled your desire to finally make a move.

As you tried to focus on the conversation, your mind kept wandering back to the stolen moment with her. The tension between you two was obvious, and you couldn't help but wonder if Jennie and Charlie had noticed. They kept trying to figure out who made the account, but all you could think about was when you could be alone with her again.

The girls decided to call it a night, noticing that you were starting to lose focus on what you were doing. "I think we should sleep." Jennie says, Leighton and Charlie nod, agreeing with Jennie, "Okay, I'll go." You say, getting up and walking out, and Leighton rushes after you, "Hey! Y/N!" She exclaimed, "I'll take you home." She says, You look at her up and down and say, "You have a car?". She shook her head. "No, but I have a phone and access to calling an Uber." She smiles, and you smile back, standing besides her as she calls the Uber.

The car arrives quickly, and you both hop in, grateful for the warm interior after the chilly night air. Leighton chats with the driver as you sit back, feeling a sense of comfort and safety in her. The car was really nice, and even though you were quite wealthy, you had never been in a car this nice.

As the car pulls up to your apartment building, you turn to thank her for the ride. "No problem at all, Y/N," she says with a smile. "Just making sure you get home safe." You thank her again before stepping out of the car, feeling grateful for the unexpected kindness of your friend.

The car finally pulls up to your house. You look back at her and smile. You look at each other for a few seconds, and you swear you were going to kiss again, but you just said goodbye and got out of the car because you weren't sure if she wanted to kiss you. As you walk towards your front door, you can't help but replay the moment in your head, wondering if there was something more between you and your friend. But for now, you're just grateful for her kindness and the safe ride home.

You walk inside your room and jump on the bed. You couldn't sleep because your mind was elsewhere; you couldn't think of anything but Leighton , the way her eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and the warmth of her smile. You knew that whatever the future held, this moment would be etched in your memory forever.

You closed your eyes and tried your best to sleep, just wanting the next morning to come quicker, but it never happened. You decided to get up to get a glass of water to distract yourself from all your thoughts. After you drink the water, your thoughts have left you, so you go back up to get some fresh air on the balcony, hoping the cool night breeze will clear your mind. As you stood there, looking out the backyard alone, you felt a sense of peace wash over you, knowing that everything would be okay in the end.

You sighed as you finally felt relaxed. You went back into your bed and closed your eyes, and you finally fell asleep. When you woke up, you sighed, got up, and got ready for school. You decided to ride your bike to school today. As you pedalled down the familiar streets, the fresh morning air filled your lungs and rejuvenated your spirit. The cool breeze whipped through your hair as you navigated the quiet roads, feeling a sense of freedom and independence. Arriving at school, you lock up your bike with a smile on your face, ready to tackle whatever challenges the day may bring.

When you made it to school, you saw your friends, and you smiled, walking up to give them a hug. The three walked into school together. They walked past Regina, and she looked you up and down and everyone else, but you noticed it. "Regina definitely has a crush on you!" Jennie exclaims, and you roll your eyes and shake your head. "No, she's not gay!" You exclaim.

You bid your friends goodbye, and when they leave, you feel someone drag you into a janitor's closet. You gasped, and you were about to get mad, but your face softened when you realised it was Leighton. She looked you up and down and smiled, "Hey." You say, voice soft, and she smirks, "Hey." She says back, looking at your lips, "I think we should continue from last night." Leighton smirks. You blush as you nod. She leans in and kisses your lips. You kiss back, loving the feeling of your lips touching hers. She holds your waist and pulls you closer to her. You were about to touch her body, but someone opens the door. You gasp, looking over to the door, and you see Regina George. She gasps herself and quickly shuts the door.

The two of you awkwardly look at each other and giggle for a few seconds. "Let me take you out." Leighton smiles, and you nod. "How's Friday?" You ask, and Leighton nods in agreement. "Perfect." She smiles, and the two of you leave the closet.

The rest of the day goes quiet quickly. You had plans to go out, so you meet him by his car and say, "Hey Dino!" He exclaimed, walking up to give you a hug. You smiled, hugging him back. You sighed, realising that you had forgotten to tell Gretchen. You pulled out your phone to tell her, but you realised it was dead. "Can I please borrow your phone?" You asked, and he nodded, passing you his phone after unlocking it. You get in his car and go on his phone. You don't remember her phone number, so you decide to log into Instagram.

You search his phone to find the app, and when you finally find it, you press on it and see the page that it left on.
