You stared up in admiration at the thunder storm above Iron-Birch. The storm was in full bloom and to you it was beautiful and sent your blood pumping. The more you thought about running into the forest and embracing the storm the more the adrenaline continued to pump faster.

You glanced at Laxus, a large smile stretched across your face. Laxus was frowning at the storm, and your smile faltered slightly. You thought he would like the storm. You guessed wrong. You watched as the lightning flashes, creating dark shadows across Laxus' face but lighting up his eyes. As grey as the storm.

Laxus was confused. He'd never seen a natural storm this big. He started frowning at the thought of you running into the storm, to ride one of the many lightning rods that fell in a flurry from the sky. The thought of seeing you hurt again made his stomach clench and his hands form into fists.

Laxus realised he was starting to get a little bit more than a crush on you on the walk to Iron-Birch. It took two days to get here and both nights you were his last thought when he went to sleep, the face that made his dreams and his first thought when he woke up.

It reminded him of when he was planning the battle of Fairytail, that consumed his every thought as well. Only this time a warm feeling filled him from head to toe, not the all-consuming anger he once had. He remembered this feeling from when he was young, when his dad was still at Fairytail and he was...happy. He hadn't been truly happy in so long the thought scared him, but he couldn't help but be relaxed in your presence.

"What's wrong Sparky?" You ask, watching as the frown deepened and was replaced by a heart stopping smile. A genuine smile. You had only seem him smirk before, or smile like he was hiding a secret, small and hidden. This made your heart skip a beat.

Laxus shook his head and the smile disappeared, but it stayed fixed in his eyes, "I know your good with your 'surfing' but this seems a bit much..."

You couldn't help but laugh, bending over and clutching your stomach you couldn't help but find the very notion funny. He was worried about you going into the forest you learnt your lightning magic. Where you learnt you could ride the lightning that rained down from the sky and not just control it. To you, this was home and always would be. Tears streamed down from your eyes as your started to struggle to breathe.

Laxus huffed and crossed his arms, "it's not funny," he grumbled, but a small smile formed before it could stop it. It was moments like this when everything seemed normal to him, like he wasn't kicked out of his home and everything was fine.

Wiping the tears from your eyes you smile up at the dragon slayer, "sure, Sparky, whatever you say," before he could argue you stormed into the forest, following an unmarked path but one that was forever burned in your mind.

"Why does she always finish a conversation by walking away?" Laxus grumbled to himself, following you into the woods.

You made sure to say within eye sight as the sound of Laxus' heavy footsteps followed you. It may be midday but with the dark clouds and the thick leaves on the trees it seemed like it was deep into the night. But it would stay that way for the rest of the week.

"Yo! Wait up!" Laxus called to you, watching as you continued to walk away but stay within eye sight. He couldn't help but watch the way you walked. You seemed to sway, and it was enchanting.

"Right here," you whispered to yourself, walking on the spot. You could feel the lightning building up in the air and knew where it was going to land. Your instincts were screaming and you knew you had to stop. You tilted your head down and waited, listening for the lightning.

Laxus, eventually, caught up and stopped behind you and tilted his head confused, "What are you doing surfer?"

You shush him and continued to concentrate, it was then that you felt it. The lightning came shooting from the sky before Laxus could say anything else. Muttering the spell to yourself, "Lightning control," you grabbed the lightning before it could reach the ground and turned to Laxus, "time to surf."
