Percy woke up slowly, eyes slowly opening, trying to get comfortable with the morning light. He squinted and attempted to turn to his other side but pain shot through his body and his face screwed together in pain. Percy was able to turn over, but he couldn't move for a while.

He laid there and thought about his mom. No, he didn't think of Jason - he thought of his mom. Her warm smile and kind espresso brown eyes. The way she used to wake him up with the fresh smell of breakfast and her lovely face.

Percy swallowed heavily, all the wonderful memories flooding over him. All the wonderful memories he wished were still around. Percy felt his throat get sore, feeling the need to cry, and he grabbed his phone and headphones. He put the headphones on and listened to a song he always turned to.

The stars fade, The earth shakes

Percy got lost in this music. He got more lost than Alice in wonderland. He listen carefully to the song and Percy, all alone, hoped someone would break his stone walls. He wants his stone walls to fall. He wants to open up to someone. But he knows he doesn't have enough friends to trust as much as he trusted his mom.

Percy knows he's fading - he knows nothing is going to change anytime soon and he knows he can't last any longer. He can feel himself growing weaker and he doesn't know what to do to stop it.

But Percy will stop burning eventually.

He lays there quietly, silent tears streaming down his face, hoping that something will spark a change. That something will happen. But Percy vows to himself that this is the last time he is going to hope. If nothing happens, he'll stop burning because that's just the way it is.
