Chapter 10
Resist

The sun wasn't rising yet when I came to work and the sky was still painted with twilight colors in the mixture of violet and pink hues. Unti-unti na ring namamaalam ang buwan sa langit para magpaubaya sa paparating na araw.

I came early to finish my work before lunch in order to make some time for Jace. Rose was even startled to find me inside my office when she was about to check it.

"Nandito na po pala kayo, Ma'am," gulat niyang sabi.

Ngumiti naman ako sa kanya. "Kailangan ko kasing matapos ang mga ito ng maaga."

"Sana po ay sinabi ninyo para maaga rin akong pumasok," sabi niya.

"No need to come early just because I'm early. You have your fixed office hours," I said and chuckled. "I'm fine here. Medyo marami na rin akong natatapos."

"Kung ganoon po, ano na lang po ang gusto ninyong kainin at magpapabili po ako sa labas?" tanong niya naman sa akin.

I tried to feel my stomach if I was already hungry. Kumain naman ako bago umalis sa bahay pero toasted bread lang iyon na nilagyan ko ng white cheese spread. Hindi ko masyadong maramdaman ang gutom ko dahil sa pagiging busy. But I needed to eat something to make me more productive.

"Just buy me any breakfast meal and iced tea for the drink, please." I smiled at her.

She immediately nodded. "Magpapabili na po ako. Sandali lang po."

Nagmamadaling lumabas na ng office si Rose kaya naman sinamantala ko na ang pagkakataon na wala pa ang aking pagkain para muling magpakalunod sa trabaho.

I suddenly wanted to go back in New York after this hell week at work in order to have a vacation and unwind. Kahit siguro isang linggo lang akong mamalagi roon bilang bakasyon ay ayos na sa akin. I probably should ask permission to my parents. Sana ay payagan nila ako dahil tapos ko na naman na ang mga trabaho ko no'n. Sa project ko na lang ako magfo-focus.

But I doubted my mom would let me... Kay daddy ay alam kong wala akong magiging problema pero paniguradong si mommy ang magiging hadlang sa gusto kong mangyari.

I continued working after I shrugged away my vacation thoughts. I only took a thirty minute rest to eat a proper breakfast meal and went back to work as soon as I was finished.

"Ugh!" I groaned in relief when I already finished the pile of paper works.

Sobrang lawak ng aking ngiti nang matapos ako. Mabilis kong kinuha ang phone ko sa drawer upang tingnan ang oras at mapadalhan na ng mensahe si Jace.

To: Jace
Good morning! I already finished my work. I'm free this afternoon.

Ang daming tumatakbo sa isipan ko na mga maaaring mangyari mamaya. Iniisip ko pa lang na makakasama ko siya buong hapon ng kami lang dalawa ay abot-abot na ang kagalakan na nararamdaman ko.

I suddenly remembered how excited I was the night before my debut and even the day before it started because he was my escort. The ecstatic feeling that was running through my veins was more than what I've felt before. This was Jace effect on me. He can make me pretty crazy just by the thought of spending time with him no matter what the reasons were.

I knew I've already got it bad. I knew that this was gonna be a bad fall because he had no intentions of catching me, but I can't stop myself from flying while thinking of him.
