Six: Hell is a Bad Word

The key in my hand was not cooperating with me as I struggled to insert it into the lock. Maybe it was the fact I am running off of two hours of sleep, or maybe it's the thoughts of Tyler running through my mind. Either way, I was not in my right mind currently.

After minutes of struggling with the damn keys, I finally get them into the key whole and twist to the right, unlocking the door to the apartment. I shuffle inside and kick my boots off right beside the door. I knew Haley would give me hell for it later, but right now I just needed to make the trip to bed be as short as possible.

It's six in the morning, and I knew Haley was at the gym. She made sure her weekday mornings were dedicated to staying in shape; something I could not relate to her in. I'd rather starve myself of calories than step foot in the gym. Believe me, I knew it was easier to just workout and get it over with. I just didn't have the motivation to do it. I loved my bed way too much.

My makeup from last night was still on my face. My mascara was smeared slightly under my eyes, but I am much too tired to deal with that now.

Walking into my room, I pull the sweater off my head and throw it into the laundry basket in the corner of my room. Instead of the sweater, I slip on a t shirt and pull my jeans off. Comfy and ready to catch up on some sleep.

I flop down on my bed and pull the blankets over me, cocooning myself inside of the soft fabric.

It isn't until about thirty seconds later that I realize I am not alone. A hand reaches to pull the blankets back and away from my face and I'm quick to react, yanking the blankets off my body quickly and flipping so my body is on top of the person who was laying beside me.

My hands grab their wrists and I pin their hands down onto the mattress to stop them from doing any harm to me. I knew with how weak I was that they would probably have the upper hand, but I couldn't help but at least try to defend myself.

"Octavia, what the heck?!" The perpetrator yells, catching me of guard.

"Jace?" I whisper, finally looking down at his startled face. I let go of his wrists, but don't move off from on top of him, still shocked that he's in my bed in the first place. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Heck," he says, a grin on his face.

I raise my eyebrow and scowl at him, confused at what he's talking about and annoyed that he spent the night in my bed.

"Hell is a bad word," he tells me.

"You've got to be kidding me, right?" I ask, but by the look on his face he definitely wasn't kidding me. "Why are you here?" I question him once again.

Jace folds his arms behind his head and looks up at me. It isn't until now that I realize he doesn't have a shirt on and I pray he at least had the decency to sleep with pants on while sleeping in someone else's bed.

"I needed to talk to you, but you were out on a date. I expected you to be back earlier, but I didn't realize dates last all night now," he says to me, his voice salty.

I roll my eyes at him and his tone. Jace has no right judging me for anything I've done.

He must be able to see how pissed I am, because he whispers a "sorry" to me and places his hands on top of my thighs. His hands are warm, but placed on my thighs they feel like they're on fire.

Before I can even muster up another word, my bedroom door is swung open, catching both Jace and I off guard.

"Hey, I forgot to tell you that-" Haley chimes in, but pauses as she takes in the position that Jace and I are currently in.
