"We hoping for it. Where's my grand baby?" She sat her bags on the bed
"He's at daycare right now. I need you to pick him up for me around 5, we got practice till 8 tonight."

"Yeah, NFL coaches been coming to the past few games."
"You didn't tell me this" her face lit up
"I didn't wanna' talk about it until I got a for certain answer, but he said they been talking to him about me."
"Oh Kai Bear." She hugged me "That's wonderful."
I shook my head, chuckling "Ma, I'm a grown man and you still calling me that."
"And guess what?"
"You gone still keep calling me it" I mocked her
"Damn right." She walked down the hall to my kitchen
I followed "Thanks again for coming to help with him until I get used to this full time parent thing."
"No problem. I'd rather travel to come watch him than have that bitch abuse and neglect my grand baby."
"Thanks again." I pecked her cheek, checking my phone "I gotta get to practice, see you when I get back."
"Love you my future NFL player."
I chuckled, shaking my head "Love you too ma'."
Ok, maybe I lied about having to go to practice so soon, but the private investigator I hired said he had some information for me.

"I was able to track down her new phone number. I can give it to you if you'd like."
"Yeah, I'll take it."
"Ok, and while you save that, I also have her phone records."
"Phone records?"
"Yes, I wasn't able to get the exact conversations, but I have every number that's been contacted from her phone." He scrolled down the computer
"Stop right there" I said "That's her mama's phone number" I pointed out
I looked at the date beside it, clenching my jaw. Certain dates stood out to me, like February 3, 2018. That's around the time Kyla first left. I called her mama asking if she spoke with her and she told me no.
"So everybody been lying this whole time."

"They talked to you for an hour. They don't even talk to people that long when they're supposed to. I think they're thinking about giving you a promotion." Liyah grinned
"I doubt it." I fanned her off, buckling Kason in his seat
"You shouldn't. I overheard the CEO of the company talking about leaving soon."
"If it's meant for me, it'll happen. I'm not stressing it." I shrugged "Thank you for dropping them off at daycare for me." I gave both my kids a peck on the forehead
"No problem, I get paid to assist." She smiled "I'd get paid even more if you get that promotion." She threw in the last part
"I would too." I chuckled "Mommy loves you." I looked down at my babies again

"In the left side of Kason's and the right side of Kacey's. I remember." She said
"Ok, thanks again." I got into my car and backed out of the driveway
I normally hate asking other people to do stuff for me, but I was running late this morning and had no other choice.

My phone dinged out loud and I immediately pulled it from my pocket. "Sorry" I turned the ringer off
