[ 3rd person pov ]

jisung smiled at the boy he had never seen before in this school. he continued writing, the paper in one palm, pen in the other hand, "yes, i'm mute. not by choice though, i was born with damaged vocal chords." minho's beautiful brown eyes widened in shock, and jisung could only smile.

"i am so sorry to hear that, i didn't know-" minho started but jisung shook his hand, writing on the paper, "don't say sorry, it's not your fault."

"do you know sign language?" he wrote on the other side of the paper as there was no more space left. minho shook his head, his brown locks shifting in sync, "no i don't... but i'll learn! i'll learn just for you." the two smiled, as jisung continued writing, "it's alright, you don't have to."

"no, i want to," minho said firmly. jisung only smiled again, at the other boy's kindness. "he has such a beautiful smile," minho thought. the two conversed, one talking the other writing, but it did not seem like there was a barrier in between. they got to know each other, mentioning their years and also talked about the school.

"there's some rumours about kim seungmin, the head of the student council, dating hwang hyunjin. hwang is really know for his good looks," jisung wrote quickly, after which he shook his hand from the soreness that built up as he was writing.

"really, well i hope they're happy together, if the rumours were true," minho chuckled.

"jisung!" a deep voice called out from behind the two boys. minho turned around, meeting eyes with a boy, who had pretty freckles that sat on his face. jisung smiled from seeing his best friend, but he tapped on minho's shoulder first, and proceeded to write, "that's felix, my best friend. my only friend too." the boy named felix walked towards the two, passing the paper bags to one hand and stretching out the other.

"hi, i'm felix, so you are the new student everyone is talking about?" minho put out his hand, shaking felix's as he nodded, "not sure if everyone is talking about me, but yes i'm the new student, lee minho." felix nodded. he passed one of the bags to jisung as he sat down on the wide bench behind jisung and minho. jisung and minho turned so they would be facing each other.

minho only watched the two boys as they unwrapped their sandwiches from the clingwrap in peace. after jisung had done so, he put it down and his hands signed the word, "thank you" as his fingers danced together in the air. minho lifted his eyebrows, not understanding what jisung had signed, as felix answered, "no problem."

after 30 minutes of talking in their little group, they packed up and threw their rubbish in the bin as minho dismissed himself, explaining he had to catch up to his friends. but before he left the rooftop garden and when felix was cleaning up, he said to jisung, "hey, um. felix won't be your only friend anymore. you've got me, alright?" jisung nodded happily as they both waved goodbye to each other.

as school came to an end, minho walked home from the bus stop after saying bye to changbin who lived in the same area as him. the worry of him having to go home alone left, as he found out he lived near changbin who agreed to go home and to school together, meeting each other at the bus stop.

"i'm home!" he shouted throughout his small flat as he took out his shoes. he walked into the study room, as he saw his younger roommate. "hey jeongin," he said as he saw the boy sitting down in his chair, listening to music while doing his chemistry homework.

"hyung! how was your first day?" jeongin asked. the two have known each other since they were little, due to their parents knowing each other. after jeongin and his parents found out that minho was moving, they offered for him to share a studio flat with jeongin, as jeongin's parents were always overseas and minho's parents had work in their hometown. even though jeongin was younger than him, being aged 17 and being in a different school, they both agreed. so their parents bought this flat for them, minho's father being a rich owner of a designing company and jeongin's parents owning a music school and producing company.

"it was fine, i made friends already, thankfully," minho smiled.
