Hello my lovelies! I hope you are all staying safe and the taking necessary precautions with this pandemic overtaking our daily lives. This was definitely not something I would have expected to encounter in 2020, but I'm sure I'm not alone on this. But with that being said, I know things are going to be okay! ♥

I sincerely apologize for the large amount of time that it took for me to write this next chapter. I know I had promised to write more, but things haven't been that great on my end regarding my mental health. Don't worry, I have improved significantly and am doing just fine now. Dealing with depression and anxiety while still wanting to write a book is more complicated than it seems *sigh*. Either way, I don't want to let my lovely readers down. You all deserve nothing but the best!

So let's continue on with the show! ♥

Cloudy skies above cast gray hues throughout the nursing home, giving it a depressing setting despite the joyous occupants inside. The elderly patients smiled happily as they played board games, conversed with the other nurses and relished the peace and quiet in isolated corners of the home.

I had been working at the Black Forest Nursing Home for the past week and a half, and to say that I didn't miss the sensation of assisting the patients would be completely false. The patience that was required on most days could be too much for a regular sane person, such as the irritated young wolf who was set to guard me every moment I was away from Marcus. Even I had to admit that it could become overwhelming at times. But whenever I saw the wrinkly smile on a patient's face, it brought such elation within me that I knew it was all worth it.

Aside from going around the pack to help out Lucia as much as possible, I spent most of my days here, much to Alex's dismay. I had urged him countless of times to go on ahead and take the day off, but I was always met with wide eyes and him uttering how Marcus was going to eat him alive if he were to abandon me even for 5 minutes. I couldn't help but to chuckle every time I caught that expression on his face. But I had to admit, it pained me to see him trailing behind me everywhere I went. I knew he was proud of his new position in the pack, but ever since we came back from New Jersey, he had become even more restless than ever. And that's saying something about a kid who probably has ADHD.

Letting out a soft sigh as the echoes of the elderly occupants reached me, I sat down on an empty seat in the middle of the sitting room out front. The pouring rain that struck the window drowned out the sound of everything else as I watched the wind blow harshly against the trees. This setting seemed all too familiar, and I couldn't help the sad smile that now laced my lips. I may not have been there for long, but I enjoyed my time spent at the Lincroft Senior Home. Even though I had no idea that I had blindly entered another pack, I didn't regret my time there. Especially one patient whose gray eyes still made me smile.

I wonder how Joey was doing right now.

To my left, Alex came trudging out of a room with an exhausted look on his face. Slumping down into the seat beside me, he began to trace his hand lazily over his untidy hair. "I don't know how you do it," he muttered, shutting his eyes tightly.

I merely smiled. "It's a gift," I reply simply.

He nodded in response before dropping his arm to his side and staring at the ceiling. "How long until we leave?"

Looking down at my watch, I couldn't help but to widen my eyes at the time. I had promised myself that we were to leave the home at 3:30 PM, for Alex's sake. But that was well over an hour ago.

Turning to look at me with a raised eyebrow, he let out a sigh. "We were supposed to leave an hour ago, weren't we?"

I smiled sheepishly at him. "Sorry, got caught up with the patients."
